Can someone explain to me why Oli Bell appears so confident in his “abilities”. Are there courses you can take in ‘complete un-self awareness’.
Tbf, there’s not much point in appearing on TV if you’re anything other than confident in your abilities.
The problem with being any age is the ongoing temptation to relate only to those your own age or even younger.
It’s something we probably didn’t think about when we were his age but it comes into sharp focus in later life.

Lingfield calls it “Winter Flat” racing. It’s only the media that have dubbed it All-Weather racing.
Can you blame the surface if a meeting is lost to either fog or high winds?
Meetings have been lost because heavy snow has prevented access to the course even though the surface is raceable.
I do agree the vulnerability of the surfaces in the current cold spell is troubling – it’s not exceptional and I think the specifications of both Polytrack and Tapeta do suggest it should be raceable in much colder conditions than we have currently which raises some questions about track management and the experience and surface knowledge of course clerks.
Synthetic. At least that’s what most people call the handful of tracks that still have the stuff here.

I’m not sure that title works so well when it’s not, err, Winter?
It’s been universally referred to as “All Weather” ever since its inception in the UK.

You’re not familiar with British excuses. It was probably the wrong type of cold.
Doesn’t trip off the tongue smoothly but ‘Artificial surface racing’ would be fairly accurate.
AS Racing – gets my vote.
Or how about the good old-fashioned USA term: “Dirt?”
