I’ve got the only button I need, Jac, and it’s already been fully deployed!
I’m watching the bizarre images in muted bliss – so far, I’ve seen a montage of Baaeed winning every race in the Calendar, Ed Chamberlin go for a walk and Matt Chapman set a new career-best for hair so pointy you could skewer a charging bull with it.
All in glorious SILENCE.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"August 17, 2022 at 14:27 #1611339gerbils will take this hit on the chin Ian.
ps …. a comparison between Frankel & Baaeed is on another thread here I put up earlier based on SF & Racing Post ratings …. in my book there’s no comparison!
good luck to allAugust 17, 2022 at 14:38 #1611343Apparently you can buy a pizza in a box at the races.
Who knew?
Everyone.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"August 17, 2022 at 14:55 #16113462.45 at Wolverhampton. Favourite Sir Gregory finishes a narrowly beaten second after blowing the start.
Luke Harvey said “Sir Gregory ran a good race.” About ten seconds later he said “Sir Gregory ran a funny race.”
How does this clown stay in a job?
August 17, 2022 at 15:12 #1611357Oh, here we go, Baaeed, I’m assuming, has just hoved into view.
Half an hour of pure cringe coming up.
I need to remind myself I like this horse – I had 11/4 about him in the QEII and was there to see him win – as ITV Racing seem on a mission to put me off the horse.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"August 17, 2022 at 15:15 #1611358RTV has just shown Baaeed walking across the Knavesmire.
Then handed over to Musselburgh as they are about to go into the stalls.
August 17, 2022 at 15:38 #1611368Fair play, that’s his career best in my opinion.
Not Frankel, but definitely the best since.

I’d agree with that analysis. Actually thought ITV were pretty measured considering. Even got a few minutes silence while we were encouraged to “take in the scene”. Understandable they try to big up every decent horse. Truth is, for all the “initiatives” the one thing that definitely will attract people (both watching on TV and going racing) is the prospect of seeing a star and Baaeed has proved himself to be one.
August 17, 2022 at 17:21 #1611428As others have said it’s the same in every sport.
In 2022 it’s not enough to be the best, you have to be marketed as the “GOAT” to put bums on seats.
My opinion of Baaeed has never been higher than it is now.
And I’d say it’s further confirmation that, like it or not, the International Stakes has supplanted the King George has he biggest summer Flat race in Britain nowadays.

Another Americanism we could well do without. 😡

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"August 18, 2022 at 14:17 #1611622Is it just me or racing should be with the horses? None of the runners at the Lowther pre race, too many picnic shots and racegoers, too much filler and arty editing.
Disappointed.August 18, 2022 at 16:32 #1611665It’s odd having a director on ITV racing who clearly thinks looking at horses before a race is boring.
August 18, 2022 at 17:13 #1611670I need that visual reminder every broadcast that you can buy food and drink at the races, bring a picnic and sit on chairs.
I might forget if they start focussing on things like horses in paddocks.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"August 18, 2022 at 17:25 #1611673ITV Racing is one long advertisement for the sport- it is not designed to appeal to those who already love it, but to those who have never been and might consider it in future. That is why they hype up these storylines and pay lip service, at best, to any negatives.
It’s a sad state of affairs but it’s the reality of modern television.
