As the man said either push, pull or get out of the way.Galileo is worthy of better than that. That being my very point.Coolmore have provided the sires of Two Thousand Guineas winner, Derby winner, Oaks winner, Irish Two Thousand Guineas winner,Irish One Thousand Guineas winner, French One thousand Guineas winner, French Oaks winner, all in the same year!!!!!and more to come:Irish Derby, Irish Oaks and St.Leger.This is a once in a lifetime performancen by any standard not a chip on the shoulder. Shame on the prejudiced readers of our dedicated to racing site for not acknowledging this wonderful performance by the stud farm in County Tipperary.Silence says more than chips on your shoulder!
June 13, 2011 at 14:46 #360491Thank you Pinza. The Greeks went beyond that. They put wings on and made him a God! I bow to Coolmore and Galileo who is now my God.Romans were so banal.

What a horrid thread.
June 13, 2011 at 15:17 #360500Ok well let me be the first to acknowledge that Galileo is a quite unbelievable sire and that Coolmore have a wonderful operation.
Ok so they are bankrolled by the richest most powerful/scary men in Ireland but where would racing be without them?
Happy now?

"this perfect mix of poetry and destruction, this glory of rhythm, power and majesty: the undisputed champion of the world!!!"
June 13, 2011 at 15:20 #360502No need to be a arse lick Joni

More interested in the bloodstock that the men behind them.
June 13, 2011 at 15:24 #360504Yes he is at the wrong stud. Himself and Montjeu should be standing at Rathbarry or Sunnyhill siring horses for the p2p fields.
June 13, 2011 at 16:32 #360517What a neat contribution.
June 13, 2011 at 16:36 #360519At fifty quid a pop.
June 13, 2011 at 16:43 #360520Like the rest of us non Arabs they did not start out rich.Non had a rich father even.Just a couple of farmer’s sons from Co.Cork.But a nice deviation never the less.
June 13, 2011 at 17:33 #360526I think John Magnier started out (aged 16) in bloodstock with a little more of an edge than being simply the son of a farmer.
But you’ve got to hand it to him, what he has achieved has been remarkable by whatever measure you care to name.
The media (racing media included) are like most of us in that they ‘don’t like it up ’em’ and Magnier’s failure to play the game has meant that Coolmore (and Ballydoyle) are often given only grudging coverage (IMO and perception of course).
He doesn’t like the media and appears uncomfortable when dealing with them. One of his colleagues was quoted in a Sunday Times interview years ago as saying [of Magnier] "He has a pathological hatred of the media.”
A risk-taker and winner par excellence however and he has almost single-handedly kept Ireland (and the UK) at the forefront of the global bloodstock industry.

Windmill GirlJune 13, 2011 at 18:19 #360534Fair enough Corm that is a superb point and lets face it the Coolmore stallion hype from AOB is at best stupid nonsense.
However if that was the rule of thumb with the media why is their no coverage to the same ilk of Shiekh Mo or his brothers. They rarely talk to the media and answer only previously submitted questions so that he isn’t be portrayed as something that he is not(open to debate?). Seems a double standard surely.
June 13, 2011 at 18:24 #360536Sheikh Mohammad did bankroll the RP at one point in time.

June 13, 2011 at 19:01 #360544I had intended this to be about Galileo not John Magnier, but I suppose reflected glory is better than none atall. What is there to say about Galileo’s achievements this year?Surely it is bigger than just Frankel and Golden Lilac? To get either one would put most stallions on the front page.
June 13, 2011 at 21:36 #360565I remember Windmill Girl’s second star very well. An illegal bet in a pub in Douglas, Isle of Man during TT week. In a weak field I took literally the phrase “He’s done nothing wrong so far” which couldn’t be said for the rest of them.
I would like to add a French Dame.
Hasili
All her offspring stakes winners, five Group 1 winners, two who got within a length of winning a Group 1. A terrific strike rate.
