Dunguib Supreme Novices Hurdle & Any Irish Trained Horse Champion Bumper – 10 pts win @ 3/1If Dunguib jumps it is going to be a case of by how much. Should improve again for better ground and an end to end gallop. If he touches evs or odds against on Tuesday I’ll probably go in again. Hopefully Sliabh na mBan will be ringing out in the winners enclosure at 1:40. Confident of collecting on the bumper bet too. Al Ferof looks to be the only danger with Shot From The Hip the most likely winner IMO after Acey franked the form again today.
Captain Cee Bee Arkle – 3pts win @ 25/1
Captain Cee Bee Arkle & Garde Champetre Cross Country Chase – 5 pts win @ 14/1Similar to Dunguib, I think Captain Cee Bee is the classiest horse in this field and I am confident he’ll go in if putting in a clear round. Very pleased with the 25/1 I got back in December but I don’t think I’ll be backing him again at his current price. Garde Champetre is the standing dish around the banks course and he should go close for Nina. I will be backing L’Ami e/w as well though. He is weighted to turn last year’s form around and has had a wind-op that should help him.
Hurricane Fly Champion Hurdle – 10 pts win @ 11/2
Would surely have had a huge chance in what looks a desperately average renewal. I have Go Native as the most likely winner and he was beat out the gate by the Hurricane last year. Hopefully he’ll be back to take on Dunguib next year.
Rite Of Passage Neptune Investments Novices Hurdle – 3pts win @ 20/1
Delighted with the price I got but I think he is a ridiculously short price now. He has a great chance if he can replicate his November Handicap performance over timber. I think Peddlers Cross is a knocking e/w bet at the current prices.
Pandorama RSA Chase – 2 pts win @ 25/1
Pandorama RSA Chase – 2pts win @ 14/1Pity he suffered the setback but he probably wouldn’t run anyway given the likely going. Lexus/Hennessy horse next year? Should be some great races if Cooldine and Joncol stay sound.
Tranquil Sea Ryanair Chase – 5pts e/w @ 7/1
Can’t have him out of the first three. Schindlers Hunt the main danger for me. Ran a cracker in the Hennessy before the tank ran dry at the back of the last.
Alaivan Triumph Hurdle – 5pts win @ 7/1
I had this bet written off after Christmas but he won very well on his retrieval mission at Fairyhouse and is now a shorter price. I’m not sure the race is going to suit him but it does look a weak renewal. I’d still expect the English to retain it. Alaivan, Carlito Brigante and Secant Star all have question marks over them.
Cooldine Gold Cup – 2pts win @ 12/1
Blew out the dirty diesel in the Lexus and ran a terrific race in the Hennessy going down to a horse who was fully revved up for Leopardstown. To be honest, I expected Kauto Star to regress this season but on the evidence of Kempton, that hasn’t happened. Still the most likely candidate to gatecrash the Nicholls party IMO.
Aran Concerto Gold Cup – 1pt win @ 40/1
Has been a major disappointment this season. Never looked at any stage like he might live up to his massive reputation. In fairness to the horse he has had bad injury problems.
An Siorrac Foxhunters Chase – 2pts win @ 3/1
Shame he won’t be in the Cottswolds next week. Would’ve bolted up. Hopefully he’ll be back 100% next season.
