February 4, 2023 at 15:36 #1633847HDLG – Pretty sure connections said Conflated goes straight to the GC
February 4, 2023 at 15:42 #1633849Same here LD73, 12/1 NRNB looks pretty solid.I want APT to win like because he is my favourite jumps horse currently
February 4, 2023 at 15:42 #1633850For what it is worth, the race was run in 6m 14.10s on yielding ground, last years race won by Conflated also run on yielding ground was run in 6m 20.40s
February 4, 2023 at 15:53 #1633853That’s my entire point Jack. The fact he’s within 20l tells you how slowly it was run.
He did run on well regardless of how slowly it was run but he fiddled his way over a few fences and with sounds Russian and Frodon against him in a GC where you’re tightly packed in on the rail for 3/4’s of the race his jumping is going to need to be a lot better at a quicker tempo.
February 4, 2023 at 16:03 #1633855Connections are Gigginsgtown ….. The same connections who beat there own legendary horse …I wouldn’t believe a word
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
February 4, 2023 at 17:32 #1633875I thought they rode him to stay and he wasn’t pretty as a result. Fury Road really made him work and GDC looked to be motoring at the finish but its relative to Fury Road walking home and Stattler needing 5 miles. Gold Cup wide open
February 4, 2023 at 18:34 #1633884I don’t see them changing tactics now – he is much more tractable now than he was as a novice, going back to blasting off in front I don’t think would be the way to go now that he has shown he can be held up….he was strongest at the finish and took a while to pull up.
I don’t think it is wide open this year but neither is it a one horse race – much may depend on the weather for some of the more dour stayers as I can see most of them being outpaced coming down the hill but to me GDC has the least if buts and maybes against him at this stage.
February 4, 2023 at 18:35 #1633886The bare facts is he’s beaten an OR 163 chaser by eight lengths and wasn’t exactly swinging off the bit to do it.
I’d say he’s about 10lb behind where A Plus Tard was in March last year.
That said, 170 might be enough to win it this year – still got to prove he stays the extra quarter mile on a stiffer track and actually jump round, though.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"February 4, 2023 at 18:42 #1633887But GDC seemed to have a lot in hand over last couple of furlongs; the speed was impressive, maybe indicating the extra couple of furlongs at Cheltenham will be no hinderance.
Not that i’ve bet him. My ante-post is APT.
Interesting GC, for sure. Is there one ‘lurking’ outside the top 5 or 6 in the betting?February 4, 2023 at 19:37 #1633892Can’t say I’m impressed by Galopin des Champs. This wasn’t the strongest opposition and I expected to see him win easily. The Gold Cup market is very much open.
February 4, 2023 at 20:42 #1633898Danny says he was very happy with Stattler , I just don’t think he,s got the pace for the GC
