Onesto @ 14/1
Luxembourg @ 16/1
Last years top two and nothing between them really. Maybe a big shake up in this market coming soon enough
August 27, 2023 at 09:57 #1661310Mostahdaf 3-1 for now.
August 27, 2023 at 11:15 #1661321If both Mostahdaf and Ace Impact show up for this, I’m not sure I could be having anything else on my mind for the race.
Ace Impact is meant to be going straight for the Arc, but connections have been known to change their minds and I personally think this would be a better target for him, so I will wait.

August 29, 2023 at 21:12 #1661505Ace Impact is going straight to the Arc and it would appear that this route has been the plan for a while so I really don’t see him turning up for this. Mostahdaf really needs quick ground and breaks between his races to be seen to best effect……connections would be silly to break a routine that has been working so well this season.
A year on, Onesto for me would be the better bet than the now fully exposed Luxembourg – he (Onesto) was pretty much the last off the bridle in the Marois before getting tired and then staying on to finish 4th beaten just 3.5L by Inspiral……that was his seasonal debut after last being seen finishing 7th (beaten just 4.75L) in the Japan Cup last November, so he should strip fitter and back up in trip is a plus and he is liable to more improvement than the aforementioned Luxembourg.
August 29, 2023 at 21:18 #1661510Same yard ended up running Vadeni in both this and the Arc so, while I think the gap between races is shorter this year, I wouldn’t be taking a price about anything for this until Ace Impact is scratched.

September 1, 2023 at 15:53 #1661690Alflaila will be supplemented by Shadwell. Could hopefully still turn out to be a decent looking renewal.

This FAV looks a very short price at the moment to me.
September 2, 2023 at 13:43 #1661782Looks like Nashwa heads here going by the plunge on her today.
September 3, 2023 at 22:36 #1661862That’s a nice price you have botchy
September 4, 2023 at 09:15 #1661874Auguste Rodin to bounce back for me.
Track going is currently good and with a great forecast this week, conditions will hopefully be ideal for him.
September 5, 2023 at 11:21 #1661940King Of Steel 2-1.
Continuous’s win last time not bad for the King Edward form and probably found the conditions a bit tough last time. He may be better than Auguste Rodin these days despite AOB still being bullish. Al Riffa has to improve. Nashwa had a tough race last time and Onesto might want a bit of ease in the ground and looks around Luxembourg’s level anyway who himself was behind King Of Steel last time.
September 5, 2023 at 17:34 #1661957The trip will surely suit king of steel much more than it will Auguste Rodin
I couldn’t back Rodin with monopoly money after last time
He’d need to be 8/1+ for me to even consider it
September 5, 2023 at 18:15 #1661962The trip is a slight worry with Rodin as he looked to need every yard at both Epsom and The Curragh.
O’Brien hinting this could be his last race. If he wins, I’d say it definitely will be just like St Marks Basilica.September 8, 2023 at 12:03 #1662173The trip is a worry but I’m guessing he’s put Point Lonsdale in there to force the pace
Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
September 8, 2023 at 14:06 #1662183He will probably win by half the track now but I cannot have Auguste Rodin at all. I don’t see how the drop in distance will help him and that last run was not just poor, it was utterly dismal.
It was a great training performance by O’Brien to win the Derby with him after his disappointment in the Guineas. Probably the best of his career. If he wins this race, it will surpass it.
September 8, 2023 at 15:42 #1662187Agree, Cork. I can’t have him either. I’ll go with Nashwa at 7/1 and completely ignore the 3 year olds. It was the right thing to do in the KG, why not in the Irish Champion Stakes?
