Well done again for your consistent posting of Irish Racing entries, top marks. I am really look forward to the next few weeks of Irish racing, the Thyestes, Irish Champion Hurdle and the Hennessey, there are some really good races on the under cards for these weekends also.
I think Realt Dubh is developing into a nice individual, he has progressed steadily and I think he is a lively contender for the Cheltenham Akle also, I expect him to win the Irish Arkle first though.

I think Quel Esprit will run at Gowran on Thursday in the race Uimhiraceathair won last year. I think this is the plan for Flat Out. Not sure about Mikael D’Haguenet’s participation. Willie apparently wanted to run in a beginners chase after Fairyhouse but Rich Ricci wanted to have a crack at the Grade 1.
Realt Dubh is an interesting one John. Meade has always thought a lot of him. On a line through Loosen My Load he has nothing to find with Ghizao and it looks a weak enough Cheltenham Arkle at this stage with nothing really standing out. I’d love to see Meade win the race especially after Hill Society was somehow beaten in it. He’s by Beneficial though and I’d have a slight reservation whether he’ll be quick enough on better ground – not much chance of that at Leopardstown though.
It looks between Realt Dubh, Saludos and Flat Out. My preference at this stage would be for Flat Out – very impressed with him at Punchestown.

January 22, 2011 at 15:56 #337237Flat out could go favorite for the arkle after this. Massive fan of this horse and has festival form. Cant wait to see how good he could be 2moro
January 22, 2011 at 16:43 #337249I’d rather Paul Townend was riding him though
January 22, 2011 at 22:21 #337284Am I the only one silly enough to give Saludos another chance? 11/2 looks a very nice price. He was finding plenty between the second last and the last before capitulating. 7 weeks off before that and now a two week break should have him in even better condition.
This is how I convince myself…

Realt Dubh should be fav. Flat Out obviously a good horse but hasnt had a
real
race over fences yet. We’ll learn plenty more about him tomorrow.

No your not Nulty. I’m not sure Realt Duhb would have found enough to get past him last time and I reckon this race could find Realt Duhb out big time.
At least Mr Cracker has had a race over fences whears Flat Out’s event was more like lt’s see who can finish furthest behind him. A lot of horses could have got into the race about 5 out but didn’t make any effort until the first two had gone well clear. In affect he’s won a 2 horses race and is highly unlikely to get an easy lead here.
My hope is Mr Cracker takes Saludos on early and the pace is really strong. Realt Duhb is way too slow for my liking and a fast pace will find him out.
Flat Out made a couple of mistakes last time and hhe won’t find running in this class so easy.
Wouldn’t have my shirt on any of these to be honest but Saludos is as game as they come and I’m backing him EW.
Here’s to madness Nulty
January 23, 2011 at 10:54 #337333I take your point Fist about his last race being uncompetitive but there is still a lot to like about Flat Out and he is my choice today.
Firstly I like to see novice chasers make some mistakes in their initial races before being stepped up in class, teaches them a bit before the big days.
His profile is also the most sound in this field for me with a highish hurdle rating and top trainer being handy in the English and Irish Arkles.
Finally, I really don’t see him needing to lead, I don’t think they will try to lead actually, some of his best form at Cheltenham and behind Blackstair’ at Punchestown in April came after being held up in touch. That would be my guess as to tactics today.
Thanks to some excellent hints from posters on here earlier in the week as to W Mullins running plans 9/2 was available as late as Thursday. Flat Out for me.January 23, 2011 at 12:48 #337346flat out the one for me.goes on the ground, form as good as any of these over hurdles. will come on from his last run 11/4 looks like value
