Yes Mike… I’m on, didn’t realise he was in it, until I saw the thread.
I’m guessing he wouldn’t have been supplemented for nothing
A lot was made about his ability to settle but often a fresh horse with his gears can be quite keen first time out

Can be tough to come from the back at the curragh so I’d like to be keen to take him on

But it doesn’t look a very good renewal at all

Looking through the field 3/1 actually looks like a good price on him

    One to mull over

Pretty poor field tbh. I hope royal Scotsmen wins but the Newmarket guineas might have taken a lot out of him. Paddington does seem the ew bet.

Disappointed paddingtons coming here rather than the derby, i still think he’ll win this though, ill see the prices on the day but 4/1 now looks fair(ish)

    The fav is very short

Going with Galeron course winner last year but can’t get very exited about the race.

    Quar Shamar 28/1 e/w

Twice raced colt. Flopped on debut as a 2yo but won a maiden at Dundalk last time out. Honestly the form of that race looks iffy with some placed horses winning maidens. With such an open looking race and some bookies paying 4 places, he’s worth a punt.

    Given so many horses underperformed,
how strong is the Newmarket form?

“Disappointed paddingtons coming here rather than the derby”

Me too. He was my main fancy for the Derby right up until he was declared in this race. I thought he had a great chance.

What I love about Paddington is that he’s one hell of a fighter. A real gritty type. He is my confident selection in this also.

In Paddington’s case, will the ‘bear’ form be up to scratch. ;o)

    Lol Mike..
I’d rather be on Paddington in this than Royal Scotsman main reason why is the jockey never back anything he rides ..not having a bet just watching this one. :rose: Jac

I think Spencer is a plus for Royal Scotsman.. not saying he is better than Crowley but his style of riding will be a help to settle Royal Scotsman.. Hoping they don’t crawl

    I like Paddington a lot.
But have the nagging suspicion he’d appreciate further and more testing ground.
Bold discoveries was all wrong and his performance troubled the stewards.
Bold discoveries was passed by one examiner as fine after the race but the vet stated he’d scoped badly.
Bold discoveries entitled to improve here.
Galeron has been here and won already and Charlie Hills has called on Colin Keane to ride. Had a tricky break at Newmarket but ran on for fourth at the end.
The draw made a lot of difference at Newmarket along with the Ballydoyle runners not going on the ground. The subsequent lameness of big bear as just emphasised in the nifty fifty means not all of the form can be taken literally necessarily.
    Bold discoveries
    Galeron
    Both each way.
