We often get told not to have a bet in every race as it’s important to have a breather.

So which of the races do you just not enjoy? Can’t find anything in it? Feel there’s little to no value in any of the field just now?

Even before today I wasn’t interested in the supreme and that’s just hardened now with Facile Vega making a balls of things.

The turners. Fav should win but way too short and I can’t see what’s gonna turn up.

National hunt chase same rules apply.

Champion hurdle I was considering Vauban earlier in the year and glad I never now as there’s little chance of the form being turned around with state man. Constitution hill makes it an impossible race to bet in.

Brown advisory I just don’t fancy anything at all in it. Awful looking race.

Ryanair. Allaho way too short but can’t find anything definitely being aimed at it to take him each way.

I could go on. At the minute I’ve got half a dozen races covered with ante post multiples and I’ll almost certainly back something in each handicap on the day but a lot of the races offer little to no appeal right now.

I’ll have a bet on every race on the day if I haven’t already got anything antepost. Even if it’s a token little fistful of 50p ews on the handicap hurdles. Maybe if, I dunno, peak Sprinter Sacre was running against 3 lowly handicappers I’d barely heard of I might just watch although even then I’d probably pick one at random to back without the fav.

I could pretty much have written the rest of your post word for word mind you.

I’m the same green grass, will have my few ante post bets and a few short priced trebles which probably total 25% of the races and then I’ll usually do 50p ew or £1 ew bets on the handicaps and other races just to add a bit of interest, even if it’s on the second favourites at prices like 5/1 as those small bets add up if they all lose lol

I’ve already covered most of the big races and a couple of hcaps , I tend to leave the bumper and the mares novice , I bet in lucky 15s/31s , bloody 4 out off 5 …

I genuinely would only bet on a race if I thought the favourite was beatable and too short and I liked something else or I liked the favourite and they were value which is becoming increasingly rare. I can categorically say I’ve got no interest in the Foxhunters or whatever its called, the bumper, the X country, the mares novice and as there is so much happening I’ll probably give the boodles a wide birth as it is a minefield most of the time.

I do not like the cross country race, so I might leave that one alone.

I tend not to get too involved in the bumper and the amateur races either.

To be fair with the vast difference in the quality of jockeys in the amateur races it can give to a betting edge

I will back any horse in any race at any price if I think it’s value.

    That includes favourites – if I think a 7/4 jolly should be odds-on – odds-on jollys – if I think a 4/5 favourite should be 1/4 – I don’t believe in arbitrary cut-off points.

I would also agree that if you know your amateur jockeys there can be great value in those races as the best are a stone better than the worst and some of them can be great value for their claims.

The Cheltenham Festival isn’t, however, overall the best place to get value – every race is analysed to death and value is often easier to find at other meetings.

Below is pretty much the war between myself and the old woman in the Hills shop , she triple checks every price on my chelt lucky 15/31 despite them coming off the machine in the shop , she asked me last week what the Arkle was …… My dream currently is to clean out her safe

Every single one of them, with the bets getting more and more reckless depending on how many £11 double Jamesons I have consumed in the members marquee

Stakes kept to an absolute minimum in the bumper and cross country though, garbage races that I don’t ever remember getting the winner in!

If you can’t let yourself go a bit during Cheltenham week, when can you?!

Never, definitely never (unless having an extra biscuit with the cappuccino counts after backing a triple-digit odds winner).

Four or five at the minute probably end up with six or seven. A little canadian and placepot everyday and happy days. :good:

I’ll have tiny bets in every race! One of the few meetings in the year when you know every horse is inittowinit and will run it’s race.

The best thing about the Cheltenham Festival for punters is everything is trying.

And the worst thing about the Cheltenham Festival for punters is….everything is trying!

    Nightmare! Minefield!

    Far too competitive!

    Can’t wait, though.

    All of them

    Be rude not to

    :good:

I intend to back every horse above 30.0 on betfair to small stakes in the handicaps and Hunters chase

This would’ve been profitable for several years now
