He’s not lived up to his 2yo promise but at 15/8 today in an eight grand race at Doncaster, he surely must win unless he’s totally gone at the game.

Just five runners, surely he’ll kick and try to burn them away.

I’d rather bet him at 15/8 than to have been taking 8/11 on an unraced Godolphin 2yo last night.

    4.05 Donny Hot Streak 15/8

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

The going is described as good, which shouldn’t be a problem but I prefer to see soft in the description when thinking of Hot Streak. Worth a shot at 15/8 mind you with his class.

    After that I’d say he
needs 5f and soft-ish conditions these days
other than that put a line through him.

It’s races like this that make you glad you hung your betting boots up. Hot Streak looked woeful and tailed in stone last in an egg and spoon race. He’s gone at the game.

I remember reading Simon Rowlands on Timeform’s site looking at horses to follow and he put up Hot Streak as a potential Champion Sprinter for that season. Just shows, even the best of tipsters can be made to look a monkey by these monkeys of horses.

It’s surely handicap time for Hot Streak but the trouble is his handicap mark probably seriously flatters him now.

The only soft in the description was in my head for suggesting this barge had half an oar left :mail:

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

I think the horse has gone at the game Steve.
As soon as the pressure was on he dropped away.
I will be surprised if he wins this season unless he is dropped into Claimers/Sellers…. woeful!!

The horse is better at 5f with a bit of juice but from being a Cornwallis winner and Middle Park runner up at two, to a Temple Stakes winner and Kings Stand 3rd at three, it is sad to see him deteriorate to plum last in an eight grand affair at Doncaster. Must be due a change of stable I would say, he needs something to try to rediscover the spark. Grim Whitman!

Perhaps they could send him to O’Meara who seems to perform minor miracles with some horses!!

I think Steve has the idea- big Handicap (probably York) at some point, price around 20-1, miraculous return to form!

I am just wondering what mark he will get after his latest effort and whether it will still be too high.

At his peak he was rated 117 and was down to 107 on his latest start. I would be struggling to rate him over 100 after Saturday’s effort but the handicapper is usually quick to put them up and pretty reluctant to put them back down.

As Raymo says, David O’Meara may be just the man to give a shot at finding the horse’s old form.

As expected, not much respite from the handicapper as Hot Streak goes down a miserly 2 lbs in the ratings for a lifeless and abysmal effort. I doubt there will be a rush to back him off 105 in a handicap.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Nice to know that Qatar Racing are still following my posts and taking my advice ;-)

Hot Streak has been moved from Kevin Ryan and sent to Robert Cowell in the hope that they can get the horse to rediscover his spark.

This seems a sensible call and David O’Meara is the other trainer I would have thought about were it my choice.

Fascinating to see if a change of environment will work and it has to be better than just waiting to see if he will just get out of the rut with the passage of time alone.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
