Big believer in the old adage of ‘Horses For Courses’ and with this thread i am going to try and highlight horses who i think will run well given their course form along with a few other things :good:

Will keep a running total of how this does , 10 point win / 5 point each way

Will post prices up around 9 am in the morning .

    3.45 Newbury – Horatio Hornblower
Course winner whose record here at Newbury reads – 3 , 1 , 3 and i think its interesting that trainer Nick Williams (14% strike rate here) brings just this one the 135 mile trip to the meeting. Won well on his penultimate start at Towcester , winning by 5 lengths but then ran a shocker i think when well beaten at Cheltenham in January , coming 9th to Generous Ransom , disppointed that day to be honest and looking at his previous races is certainly capable of better than he showed that day. The form of that race , however , is beginning to look pretty strong imo , with the winner , Generous Ransom , coming 3rd next time out at the Festival , the 2nd (Astigos) came 2nd on his next assignment , the 3rd home , Irish Cavalier , won at the festival nto , the 4th Caroles Destrier has won her next 2 races , the 5th is yet to run and the 6th , Mosspark , was 2nd on his next outing .. so definatley alot to like about the form of that race and despite coming a well beaten 9th that day i think he can be seen in a better light here today. Also catches my eye that trainer has booked Tom Scudamore (13% strike rate at Newbury) for the ride , doesnt use him that often , and interesting that he has ridden the horse twice before resulting in a win and a third place. Up against some inform horses , from some powerful yards but for me , definatley an each way player if showing up at his best
Horatio Hornblower EW @ 7/1 (Will Hill)

3.00 Sedgefield – Storm Of Swords
One from one at this course , and comes here in fine fettle. Since returning from a break has rattled up a brace of wins , first one winning by 8 lengths and then lto a 15 length success , those races were over Hurdles but is running over the larger obstacles for the first time today , but given current form hard to see him getting turned over. Dan Skelton is a shrewd operator and i cant see him switching him unless he thought he was ready , interesting that originally he had him entered in the 2.30 (Hurdles race) as well as this one , so for him to end up running in this one could be a pointer in itself. Trainer has a 50% strike rate here at Sedgefield and jockey Harry Skelton has a 33% strike rate. At odds on its not really my sort of price if im honest but im finding it hard trying to find a reason not to back him.
