Hootenanny had his prep race for the 2000 Gns today in America. He won a small race over 5 1/2 furlongs. Quite an unusual prep.

April 19, 2015 at 19:26 #897415The racing press were keen to big up Hootenanny but he was 1/10 fav and ran at a Sprint trip. It’s millions of miles away from a mile at Newmarket and he’ll probably do a good impression of Frankel for six furlongs and then look like Dorando Pietri over the final two.
Interesting but History is against him.
Then again, as one American commentator said during last weeks US Masters golf:-
“If there is one thing in life that you can’t predict, it’s History”

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
April 19, 2015 at 20:46 #897543I’d rather side with Kool Kompany over Hootenanny. Hannon’s charge won over C@D whilst the Hoot has it all to prove regard the distance. I suppose neither would have to lead although both may well want to. I can visualise them cutting each others throats and setting it up for the finishers.

Wise decision? I think so.I’d agree. Knowing the ownership too wouldn’t be surprised if they’re keen to miss Newmarket with him as they’ve already got the hot favourite.
