Third Time Lucki really does deserve to be favourite, but I’m going to take him on with Stolen Silver at 8-1

I’m not a fan of Third Time Lucki either. He already drifted. I’ve backed Do Your Job at 14/1 EW (3 places). I think his form quite similar with Third Time Lucky for example. Looks a big price to me.

9-4 Third Time Lucki is a cracking price so I have taken it. Trainer says he’s in better form than last time where he backed off him after the run before.

Like Mike I think third time lucki is a fair price , not sure what more he could have done in his previous races , he,s a novice going places

Third Time Lucki is out to 9-4 this morning, having been best priced 2’s yesterday. It’s not a good sign, but I’ll take that.

Took Il Ridotto last night 9/2 in an accumulator (with some NFL teams), beat a decent field LTO with the absolute minimum of fuss

He thought he was Peter Scu riding a Pipe hotpot back in the early 90s. That’s how he rode TTL. The horse would be better suited by handicap company.

After the Charlie Hall and now this, maybe this is harsh but does Harry Skelton sometimes loose the plot when it comes to tactics?

I get that he is a free going type of horse but you can see the way a lot of horses have not been finishing in the conditions in earlier races and you decide to go off like that, it was the completely wrong tactic to employ on a horse that there are growing question marks as to his ability to see out a race.

He wasnt that free today he was ridden that way. And as a hurdler he was a closer as i recall. Not every horse needs to be ridden like Allmankind imo.

We all saw how TTL stands off and – when jumping well – makes lengths at his obstacles. For horses of this type the best place to be is in front or at least with a clear view of his fences. However, fact they’ve again made sure he actually leads tends to suggest he doesn’t jump fences as well upsides, let alone in behind. So I can’t criticise Skelton for leading and – for the horse’s future prospects – best to allow the horse some exuberance. The horse has just got to learn to relax a bit. May be the horse went too fast early but even so didn’t find much once pressed. Today too far out to blame the crowd so may be there’s also some temperament there that makes him a weak finisher. But if a weak finisher might be the reason why they want a long lead?

TTL was 18 lengths ahead of CPS in his race at one point they said on the tele. No wonder TTL emptied.

Harry Skelton committing a horse a long way from home on a track with a stiff uphill finish and wondering why he did not get home.

I thought Cheltenham is next week? ;-)

If he was more tractable then yes I would say let him roll on the front end and use his jumping as an asset – but I am not sure today was the right set of circumstances (tiring ground and a stiff uphill finish) to try those tactics. If you drop him in (especially in a fast run race) you at least know he will have more left at the business end of the race than he did today.

With all that being said, it was a very nice performance by the winner who hasn’t really been given much credit for winning and you can well imagine him being suited by Cheltenham, he also has won on good, good to soft and heavy ground so you wouldn’t imagine him being inconvenienced by the ground (whatever it is) come March.

You have to teach a horse like him to settle by not letting him run away with you

Otherwise he will never fulfill his potential

The only reason I put up edwardstone was because I thought TTL would kick too soon and unlike the horses in his previous chases edwardstone has the cruising speed to stay close enough too him

Dan and Harry need to have a meeting, stop kicking so bloody early

I could overlook it if it was once but Skelton does not learn from his mistakes.
