Cheers and cheers. Thats (nearly) covered tomorrows fireworks bill, if Ian played ball it would have covered Christmas also!

I may be silly but I’m not totally stupid lol.

Ashley Brook did it well to be honest. Mahogony Blaze isn’t going to be the Champion Chaser his trainer hopes he will and Twist Magic is going to be difficult to win with.

Ashley Brook never looked like getting beat today. He jumped well and his jockey showed great determination to see them all off from the front.

Twist Magic was very disappointing – again !

Well Mahogany Blaze give me a run for my money so cant complain, ashley brooke always looked to be travelling best of the field and it was a well deserved win for him.

Didnt think Twist Magic would be at the top of his game today but that was absolutely shocking, hope to see him find his way again.

Let us not forget this was a handicap – Ashley was a former Grade 1 winner, with a record of going well fresh, recieving 20lb from the jolly. That said, he definately did it well.

Although I’m one of those who believes TM needs a bare 2m to be seen at his best, there is no way a Tingle Creek winner should be folding as tamely and as quickly as he did today. There must be something else/additional afoot.

Has Twist Magic got a single bit of form in the book that says he could give 20lb to an obviously back to form Ashley Brook?

No but that was the gamble and fair play. I gambled him all last season as he is one of my favourite NH horses so despite being slightly irritating it was good to see him back.

I thought Johnson gave him a peach of a ride. Its the first time i’ve seen Ashley Brook settle well in years. He deserves credit and should keep the ride. Brennan was perhaps over agressive on him at times.

Ashley Brook had no form in the last 3 years to suggest that he would win today. 1 win from his last 9 races (£16 Hcp Hdl) and 1 completion from the last 5 (beaten 27l) did nothing to suggest that he would even run well today.

Well done today but long-term, I believe that you will go poor hoping that horses will come back-to-form after 3 years in the wilderness, especially those who have been injured.

I don’t generally make a habit of it – the run that encouraged me was the Old Roan last season where i thought he was running a blinder fresh before falling.

He was booked for second in the 07 Queen Mother before he came down at the last.

Agreed. The training fraternity on here will know better than me on this one, but my thinking is that a string as huge as Nicholls’ could conceivably have a couple of horses under a cloud or ill without that being symptomatic of a wider ill amongst all of them – it just seems a big ask to me to hope that all of around 200 animals could be at their very best health-wise all of the time.

To that end, I would not be surprised if we learned subsequently that Twist Magic’s blood was all wrong (as I think was the case with Rippling Ring), much less that the Ditcheat operation nevertheless continues to ping in the winners from all corners in the meantime.

I think his handicap mark is ok and he’s a non stayer for sure David but whether he has a screw lose or not I am not sure. If he is a non stayer Ashley Brook did exactly the right thing yesterday by taking it up and going for home early.

I think PN plays games with him though and it wouldn’t surprise me if he was short of as gallop yesterday.

I listened to an interview before the QMCC and he more or less said "This horse won’t be offf a yard today" stating he thought he would be more suited by Aintree. He was virtually on the way to post at the time  He knew the horse had absolutely no chance of getting the trip round there but it’s the same old story. Owners like to have a runner at Cheltrs so give him a spin and keep the owner happy. He made damn certain he wasn’t given a hard race that day that’s for sure.

I backed him yesterday but I was worried about how fit he was as he was very easy to back. I’ll never be a fan of the horse but you can bet your life he will win a couple of 2 mile chases this season when conditions are in his favour.

This has got to be the greatest load of shite ever posted on here- even by you Fist.
To suggest that P Nicholls "plays games" with Twist Magic is pathetic. You can be sure that he had him as good as he could for Exeter and that the man himself is as upset as those who backed him that the horse ran below par. I don’t know if he’s one of the multitude who have had wind ops at Dicheat but you can bet he’s on the list for next Summer if he hasn’t. His run suggests some kind of physical problem as did his tame capitulation at Ascot last season, not some dastardly plot to win money off him.
Grow up Fist, your constant conspiracy theories, nods and winks are becoming increasingly tiresome.

Connections of Twist Magic could do alot worse than send the bugger to Swinbanks yard and rack up a few G1’s over 12 furlongs
