June 4, 2012 at 09:52 #406822Interesting thread NH, will they continue to milk the cow or move on to pastures new?
June 4, 2012 at 13:40 #4068482 year olds look promising 2 wins 2 seconds from 4 starts, all short odds though.
Newbury is a another course Hannon likes.

May 1, 2013 at 17:49 #438121Perhaps I am looking down the wrong end of a telescope but I can clearly see the potential within this system.
POTENTIAL, I do think is a fair description but perhaps if I ask
Nathan
to look beyond the obvious he may possibly find some rich pickings whilst both Hannon and Hughes (any relation?) are already in such a rich vein of form.

May 1, 2013 at 19:20 #438130Potential Bill?
I’m all ears?
Anything to do with Hannon or Hughes is of interest Bill as they make up the majority of my flat bets. Am I related to the Champion Jockey you ask. Well I am part gipsy so there might be a possibility……..

May 1, 2013 at 19:45 #438135Early days as yet
Nathan
but there is a possibility of a steady profit stream.

I have started looking at a similar approach with Johnston & Fanning.
Mojave Desert got me out of trouble today at 66/1 2nd.

May 1, 2013 at 20:20 #438142Last 14 days……..May be of interest, chaps…
Callan/Johnston 3 from 4 75%
Kelly/Loughnane 3 from 6 50%
Hughes/Hannon 14 from 36 38.89%
Kirby/Cox 4 from 13 30.77%Could be a profitable approach but personally I prefer 7 day stats.

May 2, 2013 at 08:57 #438212I was thinking along similar lines
elcartero
but the Hannon/ Hughes pairing offers a high volume of rides that may possibly be unmatched when combined with such a high strike rate. I am still considering Johnston/Fanning but feel they will not have enough daily rides to suit my plans.
Perhaps I may have missed the boat, as such, but Henderson/ Geraghty could be ideal during the winter months.

May 2, 2013 at 09:06 #438216It’s a good starting point but you cant just back them all, can you? Would think you would have to narrow them down somewhat. Over the course of the season do they show a profit? I think not.

Is this a reply to myself or to
elcartero
‘s posting?
I do think selection or reduction is required and I for one do not have any thoughts regarding backing them all
Nathan
.
However I feel it may be worthy of consideration to look at Hannon/Hughes at other venues and find a plan (I have one in mind) which may turn a profit.

I’m not convinced that Trainer/Jockey combinations are more favourable profit-wise than just the trainer alone when he has hit form. What do you think?

To stress
elcartero
‘s point regarding if a certain combination is better than the stable alone, I would say a good trainer/stable can only be better with a top class rider than a mediocre one.
For whatever reason some trainers have better stats at some courses rather than others and perhaps Windsor has proved so for the Hannon stable.
For my own endevour I want a top stable with a top rider or possibly a mix of two or even three stables, but capeable of putting out 3 or 4 runners at one meeting on a regular basis, just as the Hannon stable is capeable of and as maybe the Henderson one during the winter. I did think Jonjo O’Neil/AP could also be considered but don’t think Jonjo has an equal strike rate as the Hannon’s on the flat.

May 2, 2013 at 11:58 #438233Just a passing thought.
Who can be considered the Irish equal to Hannon/Hughes and capeable of racing 3+ horses at any one meeting?
