Hi guys.
Davidbrady hasn’t got the time over the Summer to run a Group 1 Flat competition, so i have suggested that i run the competition, so that a competition still runs.
The 1st fixtures will be this weekend with the Guineas (1000 and 2000) at Newmarket.
The competition thread will be put up in the relevant thread shortly.
Thanks.
Gareth.
April 30, 2009 at 16:35 #224556Thanks for this Gaz
April 30, 2009 at 19:41 #224605Superb! Looking forward to it.
Thanks, Gaz, hope running the comp doesn’t put the jinx on you and that you repeat your success of last year!

Can count on my support Gareth. Come on fellow members will be alot of fun and only takes the odd minute of your time!
April 30, 2009 at 20:34 #224620Could I see a copy of the rules please, so that I know whether I should be going for short-priced winners, or long-priced place horses.
Also, I’m only entering the competition on the understanding that everyone knows in advance that I am useless at G1s.
My problem with the picking 4 horses each Saturday competition is that I would forget about it. I’m toying with the idea of submitting all my G1 selections in one go. edit: Oh, I forgot about the 2yo races.
April 30, 2009 at 21:54 #224632Cheers for running this gaz, should be good craic.

Thats race specific rather than rules specific gerald, some races outsdiers wont even get a look in, and some have seriously overpriced horses winning or placing, depends on the race really.
April 30, 2009 at 22:03 #224634I think Gerald is questioning whether its number of winners or profit per level stake that will determine the winner.
So if Rainbow View wins the 1000 at Evens is that 1 winner to everyone who selected it or is it +1 to level stake?
April 30, 2009 at 22:30 #224640Can there not be some kinda rule that people can get the price they’ve actually backed with a regular bookie (via screenshot proof or whatever). Some people get a good price on certain horses, only for the SPs to be alot shorter.
April 30, 2009 at 22:51 #224642Thanks everyone.
No problem, it is a good addition to the forum.
Superb! Looking forward to it.

Thanks very much, i didn’t do too badly in last seasons’ competition.
May 1, 2009 at 00:03 #224671For the competition is it either 2pts win or 1pt each way?
Are those the options?
May 1, 2009 at 19:44 #224854Bumped to try and get another body or two involved.
May 1, 2009 at 19:50 #224856IF SOMEONE ANSWERS MY QUESTIONS RE STAKING (1PT E/W AND 2PT WIN ARE THOSE THE OPTIONS) I WILL GET INVOLVED!
May 1, 2009 at 19:53 #224858AFAIK it is being run along the same lines as last years comp so yes 2pts win or 1pt each-way are the options
No need to shout!
May 1, 2009 at 19:53 #224859Aye Doug, you can just say win or e/w beside your selection.
May 1, 2009 at 19:58 #224862Thankyou, at last.
