I saw Idaho at 5/1 but didn’t feel sure he would run. By the time it became clear he would, he was too short and I already had Across The Stars at 14/1. I don’t normally do my ante-post each way, preferring to take two to win at big odds instead. It’s only fun money I am betting anyway.

Likewise, bit of a hobby more than anything else.
He was 8’s to start with, i looked and then it was gone. A bit like Highland Reel at 14’s for the KG missed that as well.
With this mob i’m just going to follow any money i see for them Ante Post now.
August 17, 2016 at 18:59 #1260158Idaho won very easily in the end but looks a tricky ride. I’m sure he will stay the leger but if not hoparliament will be there to take advantage. Across the stars won’t be heading to the leger according to Bruce Raymond.

Across The Stars isn’t good enough for 12F contests. They will be wasting their time trying to ply his trade at that trip, however, the Leger is like leprosy and they will probably end up farting about with Across The Stars out of his depth at 12f and get nothing for their trouble.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
August 17, 2016 at 20:06 #1260172O’Brien says that Idaho will probably stay at 12f next year or even drop back to 10 and that the Leger trip is likely the furthest he will ever get. Does that bode well for the Leger? I haven’t even bothered to look who is entered yet so I don’t know, just thought I’d put it out there.

A little bit of 2/1 left on Idaho but he’s generally 6/4 and 7/4.
I think I can manage to resist backing him at those odds. He makes no appeal at that price and there has been more than one time this year that Idaho seemed to hit the front, only to be mowed down. His stamina is a question for me.

I know you lost money on Idaho in the Derby, Steve. But isn’t it time you forgive him?
One of those times Idaho “seemed to hit the front, only to be mowed down” was in the Derby – that’s The Derby, the greatest three year old race in the World. A race where he did by far the best of those ridden prominently in an overly strongly run affair. Can that really be seen as a negative?
Value Is EverythingAugust 17, 2016 at 21:01 #1260184How has Across The Stars come out of the race?
Is he a definite intended runner now?
When one bookie is double the price of another, and even bigger 24/1 on betfair – alarm bells!Across the stars won’t be heading to the leger according to Bruce Raymond.
Thought so. Hope we’ve saved some a few quid Mickey.
Value Is EverythingAugust 17, 2016 at 22:21 #1260207When you have more than two furlongs extra to travel, a tendency to get caught at the end of races is a worry for me.

August 27, 2016 at 18:32 #1261398Wings Of Desire beaten 16 lengths, US Army Ranger stuffed at Evens and today Ulysses beaten at odds on at Windsor.
Good Derby form?
Foundation was bobbins again in Ulysses’ race.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
