Peter h says
The cutoff for reserves is 1pm tomorrow. Hopefully one day that is extended to 10am the day of the race.
That will mean the connections of them 4 reserves coming to Aintree for nothing in most cases. Are you prepared to pay for their petrol.
You've got to accentuate the positive.
Eliminate the negative.
Latch on to the affirmative.
Don't mess with mister in between.April 3, 2025 at 19:33 #1725690It’s just my opinion but I can’t be having Iam Maximus for a repeat victory. I think the handicapper has his measure as he’s done nothing this season to suggest otherwise. I could be wrong like Noble Yeats a few years ago, but it’s a case of heart ruling the head. Joe Public has latched on to the Mullins/Townend 4 timer. I think he’ll shorten up further and the bookies will be cashing it in.
I wonder if Mike will have a free bet on him, too

Don't mess with mister in between.April 3, 2025 at 20:24 #1725698Was fortunate enough to be at an Owners Group stable visit to Seven Barrows two Sunday’s ago. Nicky Henderson was very, very keen on Hyland if the ground is Good.
(Sorry to be OT, but he also paraded Sir Gino, who was looking very well considering things looked bad for him recently)April 3, 2025 at 20:44 #1725704“That will mean the connections of them 4 reserves coming to Aintree for nothing in most cases. Are you prepared to pay for their petrol.”
A slightly more emotional response than I was anticipating.
That said, I am rather confident that connections of the reserves for the Grand National would be more than willing to take their chances for the price of fuel. Plus there is a three mile handicap chase on the same card that they may take up instead, so their journey needn’t be completely wasted. And if they don’t wish to take that chance; then don’t declare on the Thursday
April 3, 2025 at 21:51 #1725718Gone in again on Kandoo Kid for a 2nd win only bet; this time at 20s.
April 4, 2025 at 12:33 #1725828Hitman was 150/1 in a couple places a couple days ago… he’s 33/1 most places now

I was hoping for 100/1 7 places in the morning, but that plan has well and truly gone to the cleaners!
April 4, 2025 at 13:04 #1725839I’ve backed him twice at 150/1 but only with pennies!

Reserves were:
Shakem up ‘Arry- declared in the Freebooter
Roi Mage- Irish trained so presumably in Aintree already
Favori de Champdou -ditto
Fantastic Lady- running in the Topham todayHopefully Patrick Griffin was able to share a lorry – not much diesel required to get from his yard but ferry tickets are not cheap. Otherwise no fuel wasted, the other trainers all had other runners at Aintree on Saturday anyway.
April 4, 2025 at 15:25 #1725870Hitman is 40/1 with some bookmakers. But is this shortening just bookies trying to get “money talks” punters in on a no hoper?
I’ve done a 100% (win only) book and I make him a 0.1% fair 1000/1 rank outsider.
The horse is in form but barely stays 3 miles let alone 4 1/4… And refuses to get his head in front.Value Is EverythingApril 4, 2025 at 15:42 #1725877Haha yeah he’s a bit of a rogue, but half the fun of the National is making cases for the no hopers!
April 4, 2025 at 16:09 #1725892Some 100/1 + horses are good bets. I backed a Grand National winner @ 119/1 Auroras Encore.
If a horse has a better than 1% chance it’s a good bet at 100/1. So some are not “no hopers” and I applaud you trying to find outsiders, Peter.Value Is EverythingApril 4, 2025 at 17:21 #1725926Have Aintree said whether they’re going to water?
Times today suggest the going will be TRUE GOOD ground (whatever the official report might say) unless they water tonight.
Value Is EverythingApril 4, 2025 at 17:23 #1725927A danger it’ll be like a road tomorrow.
I’m expecting a few to come out before 4 oclock.April 4, 2025 at 17:23 #1725929Added Appreciate It at 100’s on exchange as he’s getting punted. Was hoping for bigger tomorrow
April 4, 2025 at 17:26 #1725930Added Perceval Legallois 14s win only.
And for a 2nd time
Threeunderthrufive 66s e/w 1st 6 this time.I think that’ll be me ‘done’ for the race tomorrow.
I’ve got enough running now
April 4, 2025 at 17:40 #1725931I am on Minella Cocooner @ 25/1 and both Iroko and Perceval Legallois @ 14/1.
Trouble is I’m also on Inothewayurthinkin @ 33/1 and Galvin @ 40/1. So can’t say I’m ahead of the game with this one.
Value Is EverythingApril 4, 2025 at 17:53 #1725940Did I Am Maximus go from Mullins to JP’s place to recover from his “bruised foot”?
If so, will he be another Binocular?I have noticed (apart from first time out / early season) Mullins does exceptionally well with horses after longer lay offs. If anything missing the Bobbyjoe / a bruised foot is a plus towards I Am Maximus’s chances…
However, he’s still much too short for me.
Is AP talking IAM up to get better prices on JP’s other horses?
