I’ve done PANDA BOY EW at 66/1 after his first run behind Minella Indo at Punchestown, tailed off today (surprise, surprise) over 2 miles. A plot is coming with this lad in a handicap over a distance/marathon trip…..
November 12, 2023 at 21:52 #1670317I have backed Panda Boy as well on the basis he is definitely being targeted at a major handicap between now and New Year, which he will have to win to stand any chance of getting in a 34 runner National. The problem with him is what ground will Aintree prepare because he would, in my opinion, have won the Irish National had the rain not come just prior to the meeting and therefore he did brilliantly to finish as close as he did, which is testament to his trainer having him cherry ripe.
Ash Tree Meadow looks to be going for it too. Not so sold on him yet but what he does have going for him from a stamina perspective is Caerwent. He is 3 gens back in the dam and isn’t seen very often at all in a pedigree. He was however the dam sire of Hedgehunter. The race was very different back then of course.
November 12, 2023 at 21:56 #1670319“Caerwent”
I remember him; his dam was the champion sprinter Marwell and he himself was a miler who finished up over sprint distances.
Fascinating that he’s in these staying chasers’ pedigrees.
November 15, 2023 at 12:11 #1670494Had a look at my early shortlist for this, and decided to just go for it with a few of them…………
Already bet The Goffer, and Stattler, so had a look at the rest………
Conflated
Kilcruit
Moroder
The ShunterThe Shunter and Moroder still on the radar, but I’ll bide my time with them, and also considering Thedevilscoachman now as well. I think he could come right into this after The Troytown.
Conflated finally introduced at 40’s, and as I did last year with Delta Work, I’m betting him not only because I genuinely fancy him, but that 33’s gives me a chance to lay off a bit, and pay for my bets, while keeping a bit back. Same applies with Galvin at 50’s. He’s back out Friday, and that price is mad.
Kilcruit still the darkest one for me, and I’ll almost certainly add him once I see him entered anywhere (expected to be later in season)

Stattler 50’s
The Goffer 66’s EW 5PlsNovember 15, 2023 at 20:12 #1670545Limerick Lace could be interesting for the reason that if he were to run well this weekend and finish top four or more to the point win, he could be heading this way.
It’s an excellent family he hails from but perhaps more interesting is he could become the second Walk In The Park (the first was 2019) to tackle this race now he has become the stallion everyone wants.
The jury is still out on WITP. There are an awful lot of them and not all have turned out as good at their price tags would have suggested but a fair few will eventually be heading in this direction over the coming seasons.
So far it is one runner, one placed.
November 16, 2023 at 14:41 #1670611Dare I say it, but I suspect they’ll learn from how they pushed Mister Coffey too soon last year. Like the race-planning in the Listed Novices’ Handicap at Cheltenham this weekend, quite winnable and could help propel this one up the weights into that top 34.
I can’t believe I pressed ‘send’ on this, but hey, it’s all a bit of fun eh?
November 25, 2023 at 13:59 #1671733Gaillard du Mesnil connections will be happy with that second at Haydock today. It’ll get a pound or two off his OR, which would have been the point of the exercise all along, eh?
November 25, 2023 at 22:29 #1671852Royal Pagaille I hope they run him this season in the National. Flat track, stayer

Has ruined his handicap mark even more after winning a grade 1. Need to be quite young (which he is) and relatively well handicapped (which he probably won’t be) to win it now that the fences are of a lesser challenge.
December 3, 2023 at 15:39 #1672626Will find out on weight launch if he entered and what given in February then decided

December 3, 2023 at 21:55 #1672659Gaillard du Mesnil was on 156 going into the Drinmore last year, at a year younger than I Am Maximus. He finished a respectful few lengths behind Mighty Potter and his mark was left unchanged. Two more races and ran in the National off English 155.
Maximus is 158 and will surely be nudged up a lb or two for winning. Tiger Roll won his second National off 159…but he was in his absolute prime, with experience behind him on his perfect ground. A bit of mark management needs crammed in between now and February. Or else just go for it and try to make him an open grade 1 horse.December 12, 2023 at 19:22 #1673565Played Ah Senor again and Bronnn e.w
December 13, 2023 at 00:29 #1673588Mahler mission has a huge chance if he’s aimed at the race
December 16, 2023 at 20:21 #1674126FF They saying Mahler Mission target will be the national
