Threeunderthroughfive is Nicholls’ only GN entry. It’s surely embarrassing for him not to have a runner in the race at all. He’s all about chasers.
March 25, 2024 at 12:25 #1688241As tempting as the offer is Gingertipster….. on this occasion I will pass
March 25, 2024 at 13:31 #1688245“Of interest?
Not really. Every horse should surely be treated on it’s merits. There’s many variables, such as the time between the 2 races, the ground and the National is a different race nowadays with the micky mouse fences etc. Chris thinks CR has a fair chance of surpassing those who went before but admonishes anyone who’s taking 5/1. Are there many out there actually taking such miserly odds or are they just what’s being offered by the licensed thieves?
March 25, 2024 at 17:33 #1688265He surely had a hard race in the gold cup on that very soft ground
He was legless coming up the hill
March 25, 2024 at 18:53 #1688273CR was kept out of the Gold Cup until the end, doing most of his best at the finish. However totally agree that each horse must be judged on their own merits.
You've got to accentuate the positive.
Eliminate the negative.
Latch on to the affirmative.
Don't mess with mister in between.March 25, 2024 at 18:57 #1688274Cromwell Says that Vaniller has a good chance, liked his run in the Bobbyjo saying take out Iam Maximus and Vanillier won’t have ran a bad race. My point of view was that Max was in it and ran better.

March 25, 2024 at 21:32 #1688298Galvin has been dropped 11lb since the last national from 166 to 155 and hasn’t tried once
Good job he’s not a Skelton horse
He is weighted to go very close if he gets his ground and a clean run round
March 25, 2024 at 22:28 #1688303There has been younger ones (7-9) taking the title since 2015 so have backed a few of those in the hope I come up trumps like last year (and 2021 and 2019 and 2018 and 2017). :o)
March 25, 2024 at 23:48 #1688309I couldn’t see Galvin doing it when the weights came out. However…
Just been going through his form today FF91.Dropped 6 lbs before his reappearance – which basically means he was dropped 6 lbs for unseating at the first fence in last year’s race or the 6 lbs was for finishing 26 lengths clear of the 3rd when 2 1/2 lengths runner-up to Delta Work at Cheltenham…

Dropped a further 3 lbs for a reappearance where in all probability unfit and ridden by a 7 lb claiming amateur jockey who didn’t know what he was doing (or did know)…

Then dropped another 2 since another run in a handicap over Cheltenham’s X Country… Where Galvin was travelling well going out for the final circuit tracking the pace in fourth or fifth… And in the space of two fences – with the jockey seemingly doing nothing to stop it – Galvin found himself in last place with a particularly slow jump at the “Canal Turn”.

March 26, 2024 at 12:52 #1688331Kitty’s Light down to No42 now so needs 8 more withdrawals. Still not overly confident he’s going to make the cut.
March 26, 2024 at 13:07 #1688332Bear in mind that Ash Tree Meadow, Salavdor Ziggy, Favori de Champdou, and Embittered are not qualified and will also be removed.
March 26, 2024 at 13:13 #1688333Thanks Peter, that’s great news.
So that put’s him to No38. Much more optimistic now. Think he’ll definitely get in.
March 26, 2024 at 13:21 #1688334I think with the way the ballot works, he will be either 3rd, 4th, or 5th in the order of those on 146 as he, Chambard and Glengouly are now officially rated 145 following their Cheltenham runs. I’m hopeful that he is 3rd as he finished ahead of Chambard at Cheltenham, and Glengouly finished 16th in his race.
Galia Des Liteaux and Panda Boy are numbers 33 and 34 I believe, so in theory, he could only need one more to come out!
March 26, 2024 at 13:29 #1688335Do Ash Tree Meadow etc have a cut-off date for them to qualify? Or could they qualify by finishing first 4 on Easter Monday at Fairyhouse?
March 26, 2024 at 13:40 #1688337The deadline for qualification was yesterday, so they are out. They’ve been removed from the Racing Post lineup too.
