I’ve just checked out Big Jet tv but only because my daughter and the family are no longer flying on holiday from Heathrow tomorrow as one of them has failed their pre flight covid test….again.
February 18, 2022 at 20:00 #1583694Harchibald was a bit of a rogue even before that Champion Hurdle. One to oppose at Cheltenham. On the other hand Hardy Eustace was the exact opposite, always finding plenty. Knowing the two horses concerned, even when Carberry came to the last with a double handful still thought the Hardy battler would hold on.
Value Is EverythingFebruary 18, 2022 at 21:49 #1583706It’s not every day you see aftertiming almost 17 years after the event – a collector’s item!
I didn’t have a bet in the race, so I’m not fussed either way.

Haha. That tickled me.

February 19, 2022 at 11:28 #1583763Don’t know why the above post by Ian was reported, I’ve got no problem with it and even had me laughing. In some ways I knew my post would be seen as “aftertiming” anyway.
People thinking jockey error, Harchibald should’ve won, or they were unlucky or that it was a one off downing tools by the horse. Got to be able to disagree with that.
eg Wilts said on the previous page:
“I’m still having nightmares about his Champion Hurdle defeat against Hardy Eustace.
I was all over Harchibald in the betting for that CH. When he cruised up to the last i was loving it! What followed…argh….still remains my most frustrating win punt ever…and prob will remain so, for ever”.Just want to put the other side.
Just no other way of saying it was predictable from looking at form (certainly Timeform)… Up that Cheltenham hill Hardy Eustace was always going to find plenty and Harchibald little – whatever tactics Carberry tried.Value Is EverythingFebruary 19, 2022 at 12:35 #1583771Hi all. I’m relatively new posting on the forum. But seeing Ian’s post was reported, i just want to make it clear it defo was NOT me that reported. Not my style, i’m ‘old school’ and have no probs with anyone posting opinions. I’ve got into a few community spats on other forums over the years but can handle it.
CheersFebruary 19, 2022 at 13:37 #1583790Backing Goshen at odds on ………I love him but no thanks , I’ll gladly cheer him home though
February 19, 2022 at 15:26 #1583835Jesus h he looked an old pro there , had every reason to spit the dummy yet he stuck his head down and fought , you, vegot to love him

February 19, 2022 at 15:31 #1583838Meh. Adagio blew up having looked all over the winner two out.
Credit to Goshen for digging in and battling back, but I still can’t have him as a 160 horse.

Now that’s a proper bloke who can take a joke as well as dish one out – top man, maximum respect.
Re Goshen, most genuine horse in training, a real punter’s pal, like I’ve always said!
I’m seriously thinking of giving the horse a written apology – after today, it wouldn’t surprise me to discover he can read!

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"February 20, 2022 at 00:23 #1583938Bagging the better ground nearest the hedge seemed to be the crucial thing in the Kingwell and other hurdle races there today. Goshen was pretty well on top at the line but I suspect there’d be very little in it with Adagio on better ground.
February 20, 2022 at 00:28 #1583941Adagio will def come on for the run , hope they have a punt at the Champion hurdle
February 20, 2022 at 02:04 #1583946Oh I hope so. I backed* him at 33/1 ages ago and was disappointed when he seemed to have had a set back.
*is that aftertiming…?February 20, 2022 at 05:53 #1583955Well, would you have mentioned the 33/1 ante post bet if he’d been beaten out of sight yesterday?
Few would, but you’re so guileless I suspect you might have done Moehat, so you can surely be forgiven.
Aftertiming does indeed take many forms.
And not just about winners, prices taken too.
It’s a pet hate of mine, but I also recognise it’s an integral part of human nature and I’m sure I’m guilty of it myself at times.
Anyway, I’m off for my daily loving gaze at the 66/1 ante-post bet I had on Honeysuckle for the 2022 Champion Hurdle when she was a foal!

February 20, 2022 at 07:17 #1583959Commendably honest – and at least your slips are real, unlike mine, obviously!
