He would have to run off his hurdles mark which stands at 157 and carry 11-10.
Why would you do that in a Novices’ Chase, especially when he has no experience over fences? They could find easier targets for the first 1-2 races.
October 25, 2022 at 18:28 #1620134Must see tv and still only 6 – hell if he takes to chasing we are talking about a 2 time Kingwell Hurdle winner……so
Tingle Creek
anyoneOctober 25, 2022 at 18:33 #1620136It’s not Wincanton over hurdles in deep mud, so Chezza’s got his doubts.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"October 25, 2022 at 18:58 #1620147He won the Contenders Hurdle at Sandown on good to soft back in February and on the Friday of the 2019 Tingle Creek meeting he won on soft by 34L…..just saying it really wouldn’t be surprising if that is something the might consider if he takes to it.
Always have the option of heading backing to the Kingwell if it goes pear shaped

October 25, 2022 at 19:32 #1620155It’s a bizarre world where a horse parts company at the last with the Triumph at its mercy at left-handed Cheltenham and forever after only delivers at right-handed tracks, mainly Wincanton, in the mud.
Goshen is an utter villain and I’m not sure he will be too impressed – “you’re having a giraffe!” – when asked to jump a fence.
He could if he wanted to, but will he want to?

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"October 25, 2022 at 21:04 #1620172I’ll not have a bad word said about him. And that’s despite it costing me hundreds when he crashed out in the triumph.
I love the horse but I’ve been burnt on him too often now to consider backing him at perennially prohibitive odds.
October 27, 2022 at 11:50 #1620450Four declared, a pretty decent chase with each of the other three rated 146.
In Ireland this would have been a G3 already, in GB it’s a H’cap worth 9k to the winner. Potentially every runner could ruin it’s chase mark.October 27, 2022 at 16:59 #1620504Good luck to Jamie Moore
He’s gonna need it
Will be box office viewing, you just know he’s either going to he brilliant or terrible
That is the goshen way
October 27, 2022 at 17:12 #1620510All three rivals are out of the handicap, but none by more than 6lb if Chezza’s got his sums right for once.
However, strong horse, should have won a Triumph, ought to make a chaser, favoured by the weights.
Should be a shade of odds-on, surely?
But….this….is….GOSHEN.

Anyone who bets the odds on with this character should be banned from betting for their own good.
October 29, 2022 at 13:30 #1620782Here we go Goshen.
Anything can happen.
Hope he goes well, but over fences?
Could be a whole new ballgame over fences but with a mind of his own…. Hopefully he’ll be back hurdling soon.October 29, 2022 at 13:35 #1620786The thing about 2m3f chases at Ascot is they’re not 2m hurdles in deep Wincanton mud.
And the thing about Goshen is he’s a VILLAIN.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"October 29, 2022 at 13:38 #1620787He’s not an especially evil or scary villain, though, Chezza. Less Darth Vader and more The Hooded Claw.
October 29, 2022 at 13:40 #1620788Jumping wasn’t the issue for me, was quite surprised how neat he was with his front feet but as soon as he was headed he just seemed to sulk and phoned it in after that.
Wouldn’t give up on chasing just yet but he is a horse that seemingly now needs everything to go his way or he will check out pretty quickly.
October 29, 2022 at 13:40 #1620789He’s a really likeable villain, Gladders.
I regard him as the Arthur Daley of racehorses – been poncing a living and paying no tax for years.
