Not a race I have a bet in too often, but I’m quite interested in Gooloogong. Impressive when last seen, and I thought that 33’s was big enough to have an early bet.

I’d expect to see him in Curragh Cup, and that’ll let me know fairly early if I’ve wasted my money.

Seems to have been kept under wraps, and hopefully more to come

A very interesting choice, not least because the horse was on the radars of a few prominent social media accounts ahead of the Queen’s Vase.

He didn’t run in the end, but the interest won’t have gone away and that can be a recipe for horses shortening.

My only note of caution is that, since being reduced to 2m in 1991, Stradivarius (2017) is the only 3yo winner of this race.

But odds of 33/1 surely compensate for that negative stat.

Quicktorn wouldn’t surprise me depending on which other horses turn up and how much of an easy lead he gets, find it hard to see past the Gold Cup winner though.

Quickthorn has shown in the past when they let him go that far clear he’s not going to get caught

Even when the red petrol light comes on he keeps galloping

The problem the rest of the jockeys have is they’d have to ruin their own horses chance to keep him close

Coltrane jockey before the race said he didn’t want to give Quickthorn too much space. Trouble is if you go with him early you can burn your own chance.
