Apologies all round everyone and especially Craig. Senility is beginning to take its toll on my memo……
No, Len (East Derby), I’m sure you’re absolutely fine!!

January 9, 2009 at 03:46 #202629For a days PtoP I think I would forego the restuarant. Hackwood Park sounds good and a chance to take Robin out for a meal somewhere afterwards, of course!
Craig
Noted! The course is situated just outside of Basingstoke – not a place of beauty, but I’m sure there are some decent eateries in the locality. I’d recommend Chateau Diane Avis.
Hackwood is vastly, vastly improved on what it was even five years ago (which broadly speaking was Cartmel, with less of the charm), though if you have any means of getting off the ground (i.e. standing on your car roof) they’d come in handy, as the infield is packed with stalls, funfair rides, etc. which impede the view somewhat. Robin has a hydraulic scaffoldy hoisty thing from which he commentates, and I’m usually race-reading on the judge’s truck. Elevated positions are a bit thin on the ground otherwise.
Admission prices will be confirmed nearer the time, but last year it was £20 per car. Dates are already inked in, though;
Sunday March 29th
BH Monday April 13th
BH Monday May 4thHTH,
Jeremy
(graysonscolumn)Craig a good double dose of pointing would be to add Charing on Easter Saturday to Hackwood Park on the Monday 13th April and you could stay in London and do both I would have thought.
I am also going to annoy Jeremy a wee bit and suggest an alternative to Hackwood on May 4th. Northaw is the nearest meeting to London actually 2 miles north of M25 if that and relatively easy to get to by public transport. Quite one of the most eccentric tracks I have ever been to but great fun. You would not believe that the urban sprawl of greater London is just down the road. Sorry Jeremy.
January 9, 2009 at 05:57 #202648Fine already, Bob! I’m sure I’d love to take in Northaw myself one day.
Just a shame so many of the Bank Holiday courses only race once a year. I’m not likely to see the likes of Sandon or Aldington or Kimble any time soon. No matter!

Pity mate, I’ve been to Kimble and it is lovely, just Charing less of a faff about on the underground otherwise I’d do the Easter meetings year about.

GAMBLE,
As they say int Sheffield,"Thou could read thy scripts from thee"
allday! with my skills as a "Talent Spotter" (horses, women wine) and your
"Articulate pen stroking" we could take over the "Racing Post" "The Sun"
"Nuts"! i can see the Headlines!!! Cue You;-January 10, 2009 at 15:42 #202926Craig, it’s got to be Cheltenham! Good viewing, atmosphere, quality racing, good value.
If you go on one of the days they split tattersalls and club, make sure you get the club entrance.
Only problem with planning going racing here in winter is it keeps getting cancelled

Think Nuts would be an interesting challenge
and possibly more your cup of tea Wilson
as nuts was my first reaction when reading your post
If you can get this up ‘n running
I will consider a loose business partnership
Nuts are predominant in the flesh markets
and if memory serves me correctly
they had almost orgasmic success
with a strange picture of a monkey
I do have those sort of contacts.
Looking at the periodicals you have selected
we need a role reversal
you scribe and I’ll supply the tips
Who’s afraid of the Financial Times ?
I cleaned up, selling my entire
stock of banking shares
a good three months before detonation day
including the unfortunate Braddick and Briddick
who went under despite a late american call
I have advised people of some wealth
how to avoid the runsI am rather high on krone tonight

before replying
and possibly resist a retort
