Mullins has confirmed Gaelic and FTF will be kept seperate
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
March 1, 2026 at 17:58 #1756865Whenever he is on RTV, Ruby Walsh says Mullins runs the horses in the race he thinks they can win.
Which race is Fact To File more likely to win: one where he is priced at 4/1, or one where he is priced at 4/5?
With Cromwell piping up about his horse being in great form, the mood music would suggest Fact To File is running in the Ryanair.
Maybe they will skip Cheltenham with Jonbon and keep him for the Melling and the Celebration.
March 1, 2026 at 18:16 #1756866I guess it all depends if Cromwell’s horse does something unreal on the gallops next week and then FTF likely goes Ryanair, if not FTF back in the Gold Cup reckoning and being supplemented. At the moment all Cromwell has said he’s doing better and also said not sure about the money coming for him, which implies he’s not where he was last year yet.
March 1, 2026 at 18:40 #1756870I rather believe Oliver Cromwell than Gavin
March 2, 2026 at 08:58 #1756911The weather forecast leading up to Cheltenham has a low probability of much rain and several days of sunshine. Horses that prefer good or good to soft ground are likely to shorten in price:

March 2, 2026 at 09:04 #1756912The Cromwell horse require soft ground so with the weather forecast of very little rain he may not run and Fact o File will

I thought the same before he won it last year 10 seconds faster than standard.
March 2, 2026 at 09:48 #1756919I love backing front runners in the Cheltenham Gold cup. I can see Haiti Coleurs running them ragged, his most impreesive performance to date winning the Welsh National under top weight on good to soft which he shoul get here.
Coneygree (2015): The first novice to win the race in 41 years, Coneygree was described as putting on a “front-running masterclass” by making virtually every yard of the running under Nico de Boinville.
Native River (2018): Known for his “relentless, front-running style,” Native River led for the vast majority of the race under Richard Johnson, out-grinding Might Bite in testing conditions to secure a famous victory.March 2, 2026 at 10:48 #1756924on the weather front, we had a bit of the wet stuff friday evening and 20 minute blast yesterday lunch time, days before that and after its been tropical down here
this morning nice bright breezy day. Will pop up to course later in the week, my rainfall measuring pot in garden is neigh on dryMarch 2, 2026 at 10:59 #1756925Watching Coneygree back is a real treat. Didn’t quite appreciate it at the time but that was a breathtaking round of jumping.
March 2, 2026 at 21:37 #1756962Townend will have to think hard… I can understand his loyalty to GDC and he would have preferred Gaelic Warrior to run in the Ryanair so he gets to ride both, that makes sense. Also makes sense he’ll ride the horse in the Gold Cup that has the best chance of winning.
Patrick has never ridden GDC, I wonder who will get the call when when Paul puts sentiment to one sideGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
March 2, 2026 at 22:17 #1756968Weather forecast for next week does not look so settled, as it did only 24 hours ago.
Possibly light rain about on some of the days.
Obvs could change, with a week until ‘the off’.March 3, 2026 at 01:38 #1756983Hughsie Townsend will be on GDC , you can argue that the ground might not be perfect for GDC , it’s a bigger argument that Gaelic doesn’t get home , can you honestly say he’ll settle , your going to have Jukebox and Haiti going hard to lead , Gaelic will want to be near the pace to , he’s not going to settle in this case , he can drop Galopin in and then attack late on and use his guaranteed staying strength , we all know Patrick’s riding Gaelic …

March 3, 2026 at 08:24 #1756991Nothing is confirmed yet
Remember Vautour
Cromwell, Mullins, Ricci and JP could still pull a fast one.
But yes Gaelic Warrior will settle fine for him, watch Sandown back. Patrick had a job in waking him up. He jumps straight, he’s powerful. He had no right finishing 2nd in Ireland the way he travelled. Take out Fact to File and he’s 1st. FTF at present will be Ryanair boundGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026

Didn’t Mullins blame Fact to files no show in the King George on the quicker ground and said he’d not run him on it again. Personally i think Fact to file has something of a patchy record in open company and he struggles to put two good runs together. Brilliant on his day but has off days too. I don’t think the Gold Cup would bring out one of his best days.
Everyone forgetting Spillane’s Tower (and possibly I am Maximus). Cant see JP throwing all three darts at Gold Cup.
Most likely scenario is fact of file Ryanair and Gaelic Warrior Gold cup. Jonbon sensibly kept back for Aintree.
FWIW i quite like Spillanes tower for this.
March 3, 2026 at 17:50 #1757041Gaelic Warrior only a point behind Jango Baie and Jukebox Man on the exchange
Once the long awaited wait ends and Mullins announces FTF is Ryanair and Gaelic Warrior is Gold Cup he’ll be clear favourite.. Then it will depend on Paul Townend to make a decision on does he want to ride the favourite or yesterdays horse. He’ll pick Gaelic Warrior and he’ll be homing in on 2/1
Potato never had Elegant Escape fav from 33’s down… to much poetry and not enough moving markets, that boyGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
March 3, 2026 at 18:00 #1757044Paul’s riding GDC , I admire your believe Hughsie but watch the KG , he can’t do the same , even if he does settle will he get up the hill , I’ll be surprised if one of two aren’t stronger
