My interest in presenting percy is rising by the week tbh
Just want to see him declared to run in a chase before backing
November 10, 2019 at 16:41 #1474534It’ll be really interesting how they plot presenting Percy’s season …I can’t have him but I’m sure he go there stepped fitter than last year
November 10, 2019 at 16:51 #1474538It’ll be really interesting how they plot presenting Percy’s season …I can’t have him but I’m sure he go there stripped fitter than last year
November 10, 2019 at 17:02 #1474541He smashed al boum photo in the RSA who is closely matched with kemboy on the punchestown run
Hes only run over fences once since which was in the gold cup when he was found to be lame so that can be taken as nothing like his true running
His other run he comfortably beat bapaume who ran a stormer in the stayers hurdle
20/1 on him has to be the ante post value at this stage I just dont trust they yard after last year (his price says most others dont either)
November 10, 2019 at 17:05 #1474542If last year’s novices are not going to step up to the mark, there must be a reasonable chance that Al Boum Photo could win again.
November 10, 2019 at 23:51 #1474560I still haven’t forgotten Burrows Saint here.
Having bet him already, before cashing out, I’m happy to see 66’s still available. I’m sorely tempted to get back on right now, but I’ll hold off. I’ve got a small interest in Cabaret Queen for this as well. Miles of improvement required, but not completely out out of this on her last run, and she’s in the right hands.
I’ve added Lostintranslation with The King George Double at 40’s, as I thought that that looked very fair without the worry of him winning at Haydock.
He certainly looks the pick right now, with my early fancy Delta Work flopping badly, and though not quite as desperate as Delta, thought Santini was disappointing today.
November 10, 2019 at 23:53 #1474561Cork, Al Boum Photo really is becoming almost a forgotten horse here, which is bizarre.
He was very impressive last season, and you could say he’s overpriced.
November 11, 2019 at 07:41 #1474572Agree VTC. I have heard plenty of horses tipped for the Gold Cup but hardly anyone seems to be interested in the horse who actually won it!
I will sound like a huge after timer but I did have a small each way saver on him when he won, so maybe I like the horse more than most!
I suppose you could say the race did not take much winning. Cheltenham does not suit Clan Des Obeaux or Bellshill. Kemboy fell at the first. Presenting Percy was below par and Native River and Might Bite look like lights of former days. And we all know it is very difficult to win back to back Gold Cups.
However, ABP had a light campaign last season. He did not make his debut until New Year’s Day at Tramore. He is still a relatively young horse and I think he ought to be favourite. Who knows if Kemboy will be able to run?
November 22, 2019 at 20:09 #1475534I think the best way to get involved with tomorrow’s Altior Cyrname clash is to back Altior at 14s for the Gold cop. I suspect he’l be a 5/1 chance afterwards unless Lostintranslation wins the Betfair
November 30, 2019 at 10:10 #1476179Five horses running today in The Ladbroke, who I think could go here.
Mister Malarky was no doubt disappointing at Ascot, but his overall profile suggests to me that there could be significant progress, but obviously not a given. West Approach is currently subject to a massive gamble, and it might just be the case that Power will continue to get a tune out of him, and I’ve a feeling that as the season goes on, he’ll come into the picture here.
I’ve got Borice very near the top of the shortlist for Aintree, but for all that Galway Plate winners don’t achieve much, I’d make an exception for this one, and I don’t think we’ve seen the best of him.
It’s easy to make Cabaret Queen/Total Recall comparisons, but that was a big performance from her at Limerick and you just can’t say she’s reached her ceiling. Keeping faith with Yorkhill will get people laughing at you, but Mullins has kept at him, he’s got his mark down, and as we seen at Galway, right handed and all, he can still produce the goods. Who knows, I might be talking nonsense, but if he doesn’t get back to Gold Cup standard, then watch him get an entry for Aintree. A very interesting pair for Mullins.
On the subject of Mullins, my Gold Cup outsider runs tomorrow. I genuinely like Burrows Saint for this, and having laid off original bet, getting ready to go back in.
Borice 50’s
Burrows Saint 66’s
Yorkhill 66’s
Mister Malarky 100’s
Elegant Escape 150’s
West Approach N/QDecember 8, 2019 at 14:40 #1476869Was very happy with that return from presenting percy
As youd expect from a stayer he got outpaced but then ran on nicely
The enormous drift suggested it was just a prep run, hoping they go back to what worked in the past and run him regularly
I’m thinking savills chase, Irish gold cup then here
December 8, 2019 at 17:26 #1476883My problem with presenting Percy is the run that made him favourite last year , the prev RSA ….the form hasn’t worked out , monalee hasn’t run well since and we know elegant escape is a out and out stayer , if going fit I’m sure he,ll run his race but i reckon it would be a place at best
December 8, 2019 at 17:36 #1476884Emmm….. Al Boum Photo was in 3rd when falling, unlikely to have troubled PP; can’t see the form working out much better than that!
December 8, 2019 at 17:41 #1476885AL boum photo has improved a lot since that run , presenting Percy’s run was fine today but if look at the likes of native river , sizing John etc that had the pace to win 2 , 2.5 mile races in the year they won the GC , yes you have to stay but you also need the pace to be in the right place , also I believe nothing will beat lostintranslation , that run at haydock gets better every time I see it , we,ll see it’s a long time to March
December 8, 2019 at 19:28 #1476897Al boum photo would need to have improved a lot to beat a fit presenting percy
He absolutely destroyed him in the RSA
And there is no reason to think that percy wont have improved as well he just hasnt had the chance to show it
Hes had 3 runs since the RSA, 1 over hurdles 1 he got injured in and the other was over 2m4f against min
Fair enough to not fancy him but to completely dismiss him is a mistake in my eyes, he could very easily be the best of the irish horses
Hopefully they all turn up in the savills chase
December 8, 2019 at 19:40 #1476898native river , sizing John etc that had the pace to win 2 , 2.5 mile races
Native River bar a listed hurdle in 2015 has never won at shorter than 2m6.
His GC was a slog, and i would very much doubt Percy hasn’t the requisite pace for a GC.
Al boum photo would need to have improved a lot to beat a fit presenting percy
I think it’s fairly obvious ABP has improved a fair bit no?
I’d say he’s matured a lot- whereas PP was probably a lot more battle hardened by then.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!December 8, 2019 at 20:03 #1476901I didnt word it that well
I meant in relation to how much presenting percy will have improved since, which to me the ease with which he travelled and won the galmoy hurdle suggests he has
Not sure the gold cup took much winning though with percy injured, clan des obeaux not staying, native river regressing, kemboy falling
The one I fear is lostintranslation, my bet was placed before he travelled all over bristol de mai at haydock
That JLT form is unbelievably strong
