Agree with final furlong that Presenting Percy could be the forgotten horse here. It is a worry that he was not seen much last season but if he can come back to his best he is overpriced.

This Lostintranslation is getting very much overrated for me.

Defi Du Seuil is his main form line but that horse was beat comfortably by Chacun Pour Soi so it could be that his form is not great shakes and Topofthegame was miles behind form when LIT beat him at Aintree. He looked very good at Carlisle and he could be improving at a rate of knots with the step up to 3 miles but at this moment for me he’s definitely got a good bit to find.

Santini, as long as he’s kept to galloping tracks, wins all.

I have a feeling Percy will go back over hurdles and head to the Stayers. But it’s based on nothing!

Lostintranslation is probably my favourite horse Kev, but i do agree to degree. I don’t think Cheltenham was ideal for him, partly due to basically doing what he’s done before with Defi, given him a lead to sit behind. Yesterday was fantastic, but maybe a little exhuberant for a GC horse, which would be my main worry.

I’ll stick with Lostintranslation after that performance, he was in a lovely rhythm, all looked very easy for him, has already won over 3miles, as long as he stays sound can’t see him getting beat!

Defi isn’t really a speedy 2 miler chaser, best form is at 2 and a half so it was a good run all things considered.

With antepost slips on Lostintranslation 33s and Santini 40s I will leave it up to yourselves to fight over who is best. I don’t really care who wins as long as one of them does. :bye:

Said in a previous post about Santini, I don’t think we will see the best from him until the gold cup. Needs more of a test then what he had today and seems to be a horse that really needs a run first time up and should come on a bundle. That being said I did expect him to pull away a bit more after the second last haha. Still think there’s loads from him to come. Does look an out and out stayer and the harder the test the better he will be. Gold cup should suit

Someone tell the trainer to keep him on left handed tracks. Going right handed he’s been underwhelming.

I’m sure like fussel yesterday Henderson has left plenty there for him to work on but you still have to say it was underwhelming , holding my lostintranslation ticket I’m pretty positive he,ll have to much for santini , why u need a genuine stayer I always think you need a horse with a good traveling pace and the option of a gear …I don’t think santini has enough gears …we,ll see

    Santini is so slow

Needs the national trip I think

Does he have the class to win a gold cup? Would need bottomless ground I reckon and a massive stamina test

The Gold Cup is left handed which is a bonus.

    Disappointing but
That race didn’t suit Santini at all. Still should have won by further but I think a stronger pace and stiffer track will suit much better. Nico was nudging him early and regularly. The slow pace didn’t help his jumping and when quickened into a fence jumped them very well.

Agree he needs a stronger pace but he is not going to find many stiffer tracks than Sandown! Going left handed is probably important for him. If he was mine I would take him to Leopardstown over Christmas but that is not Henderson’s style.

Henderson, interviewed on Racing TV, has just said one race before the Pillar/ Cotswold/ whatever it’s called at Cheltenham.

Not a great fan of that trial at the end of January, as it tends to bottom horses and they don’t recover by the big one. Someone on here (Steeplechasing or VTC) posted the stats last year.

Anyway, confidence in Santini for the Gold Cup would definitely wane if he went down that route.

Question is is last years RSA form now looking a bit poorer , Delta work ,s average run and santini today , we won’t see the winner this year to help decide that either …more questions than answers

I think the 2nd season runs will be more reliable and answer more
1st time out with regard match fitness and work done at home can vary
