March 21, 2016 at 18:15 #1239274I wonder if they really upped the money for the GC would the Ryanair cop-out disappear? Might evn see Faugheen + A Power having a go
March 21, 2016 at 18:16 #1239276Don’t share the enthusiasm for Thistlecrack; 3-mile hurdling is such a weak division, easier to look good

There is looking good and looking as though you have 4 turbo jets strapped to your @rse :)

Yes I’m afraid I’ve jumped on the Thistlecrack Turbo Jet.Its not just the way he destroyed lat years Winner ‘Cole Harden’ but the way he also saw off a horse tuned to the minute in Alpha des Obeaux. The aerial view really shows this fine athlete stretching clear nicely of next years RSA winner.
March 21, 2016 at 22:27 #1239321The positives regard Thistlecrack and Black Hercules to some extent to a long term view is the going will not inconvenience them whatever it is. Vautour wont run on anything worse than good, Don Cossack wont be at his best on soft etc.

March 21, 2016 at 22:43 #1239322Vautour. Vautour, Vautour, Vautour. If Vautour doesn’t win this I’m giving up. He’s potentially as good as Kauto. Finally he’ll get his chance and show it. 185+ performance next festival.
March 21, 2016 at 22:48 #1239324No chance if it turns up soft though boz

September 20, 2016 at 12:06 #1264116Connections of Coneygree are considering a tilt at The Betfair Chase, en route to a possible tilt at The Jockey Club Chase Triple Crown, and he’ll also be given an entry in The Charlie Hall by the look of things.
September 25, 2016 at 11:56 #1264736Black Hercules is 10/1 TBP in the GC.
That is a very good bet IMO. Almost all the horses ahead of BH in the market have age, injury, going and distance concerns – BH has none of those, so i’l take 10/1 TBP all day as surely GC bound.
September 25, 2016 at 20:29 #1264810I’m inclined to go for new blood in The Gold Cup as well this year Charlie. Best of luck with that bet, based on his run at the festival, it should give you some hope in the coming months.
October 19, 2016 at 18:24 #1267819The more I look at this the more tempted I am to start getting involved on some of the bigger prices.
Thistlecrack – never jumped a fence in public
Vautour – is a beast and has my money already on him at 10’s
Don Cossack – injury concerns
Cue Card – age concerns
Coneygree – coming back off an injury and wants soft ground
Douvan – will go CC
Djakadam – twice come up short. Good EW bet 16s (PP)
Valseur Lido – this this at 25’sThe two that interest me at 33’s are Blaklion and Don Poli
Blaklion is as tough as nails and has such good course form – trainer knows how to win GC and can see 33’s shortening significantly with a solid run in the Hennessy.
Don Poli was given a poor ride by Davy and I am a huge fan of his. New trainer, blinkers and a more prominent ride and 33’s is big
October 19, 2016 at 18:48 #1267823im finding the gold cup a nightmare at present, but do like NATIVE RIVER who done me a favour at aitree. and will relish the stiff gold cup. also like BLAKLION who is yes hard as nails. and never gives up. both 33/1 will do me for a couple of quid
October 20, 2016 at 00:15 #1267850I’ll do my usual “mini-book” on this, and have already started, though the 3 horses I really liked at the end of last season, remain my strongest fancies.
Lion, I’m with you on Native River, and after what I seen from him last year, not to mention that run at Aintree, then the 33’s looks very generous indeed, and I’ve had a go. Not sure why I didn’t bet him on The Exchange at slightly bigger odds (he’s still bigger tonight), but to be honest, 33’s ew will do me fine.
If I like Native River, then I must give a chance to Minella Rocco, who defeated him at The Festival. I just loved every minute of watching his “progress” last season, and after suddenly finding his form in The Reynoldstown, it was all systems for The 4 Miler, and he was one of the highlights of the week for me, and I roared him home. There’s every chance that his season will be geared around Aintree (and potentially Chepstow en-route to there), but I really don’t think he’d be a back number in this, and he’s worth a go at 40’s.
Along with Native River, my other main fancy is something of a forgotten horse, and it’s Zabana. He was absolutely dynamite at Punchestown, and though equally as likely to head to The Ryanair, I’d love him to head here, and would have no concerns that he’d see out The Gold Cup trip. Very keen on him, and on 50’s each way, along with 55’s to 90’s on The Exchanges.
Zabana & Native River for me then, with a nod to Minella Rocco, and along with a few others in my book, really looking forward to seeing how the road to The Gold Cup develops.
October 24, 2016 at 18:03 #1268488It’s Thistlecrack’s big day tomorrow. The opposition at Chepstow is hardly taxing so all we can hope for is a good round of jumping and an easy win.
October 24, 2016 at 19:45 #1268498A few ‘judges’ questioning how he can be 7s fav without having jumped a fence. I suspect the 7s will look very big very soon
October 24, 2016 at 20:44 #1268502Good luck to Thistlecrack and his AP backers at Chepstow. Hopefully he puts up a great performance and hoses up at the Festival as well for you all.
I can’t see myself having a bet for any race at Cheltenham till NRNB comes in but i will be cheering this on for you all as i think he is a very special horse.
