I think its another Paul Nichols 1,2,3.
If Denman is at the top of his game he can win it. If not kauto star. The third could be Tricky Trickster.March 13, 2010 at 23:27 #282165You also have last years 16l RSA winner, the Grand National winner, the current favourite for that race this year along with a couple of novice grade 2 winners in Carruthers and Casey Jones, all of who are trading at over 20’s to win on BF.
This is a high class Gold Cup.
For what it’s worth, the more I think about this the more I think Imperial Commander or Cooldine could spoil the party.
March 14, 2010 at 00:16 #282179You could say that about a lot of Gold Cups. Look back through history and many of them were clashes between two good horses in small fields. 1935 Golden Miller and Thomond for a start and then Arkle and Mill House twice are three that spring quickly to mind. I think the 1935 Gold Cup is on the Pathe or Movietone sites and is one of the most celebrated of steeplechases.

At least I got one thing right last week. It was a three horse race.

How can even a three runner race including Kauto, Denman and Imperial Commander be "slim on class"? Three highly gifted animals that would be competitive at their best in any Gr1 event over steeples at a distance. The race may lack depth but it sure doesn’t lack class.
