Depends what the true state of the ground is at Sandown.
Yes, he had the advantage of being held up in behind with the strong headwind, but in all probability improved a bit on last year. Stable are in good form now too.
If either the second or third races on the card tomorrow beat Racing Post Standard (indicating on the firm side of good) then I may consider laying my Charyn bet back. But Good ground wouldn’t worry me at all. His third place behind Paddington in the St James’s Palace was arguably his best performance of the season. ——————————————The unease in Flying Colours could be because Godolphin don’t expect much on his first start for some time. If you haven’t yet backed Flying Colours I suggest just a saver at most, even though he has gone out to 7.2… Not run since finishing lame in the Dante. Looked to have bags of potential at the time. Maybe will show it another day. Stable are in good form though.
Israr has verdict over a well below form Derby winner in the Princess Of Wales, but imo is too inconsistent and doesn’t win often enough to warrant a main bet. Albeit blinkers might help him find more than he sometimes does.
Tasman Bay shouldn’t really be good enough. But from what I can see he is the only definite pace horse in the field. I’d be saying to change him to a main bet, but the price has gone.
Am really keen on Okeechobee anyway. Shouldn’t be too far away from the leader, has Ryan to help. Is the progressive horse in the field. Stable in brilliant form.

He’s actually a horse I really like, just not at this trip and especially as the time he disappointed was when leading on reappearance last year. Better form held up and if held up in a slowly run 10f… has little chance compared to his ability.Checkandchallenge wouldn’t be without a chance on form, but the little he has to find on form is far less likely coming from an exposed 5 year old and is another that may be inconvenienced by the potential pace.
The pace will probably depend on whether Artistic Star pushes Tasman Bay on. The Beckett horse has an obvious excuse of going off far too fast in the Voltigeur. But why wasn’t he seen again? Also looked more exposed than some and has a bit to find on form… Unless the gelding op’ has worked wonders! Will be interesting if the market speaks in his favour.

Value Is EverythingBrilliant stuff again GT 👍. I see you had the tricast in the 3.35, do you ever cover these bets? I.e combined forecasts and tricasts? It’s not something I’ve dabbled in but may be worth considering when you fancy 3 or 4 in a race.
