Yes, Istabraq. Horses going over the top and (just as troublesome) the change of going – good ground is more prevelent over jumps at this time of year, as soft is in late September/October on the flat. Horses running on different ground to what they have been means more work in assessing if they’ll still be effective. Over jumps I tend to have fewer bets after the Grand National and stopping entirely at season’s end – Bet365 Gold Cup. Maybe something to do with me being ready for a change of code too – I love them both. Concentrating more on the flat once Aintree is over – don’t have time to give the jumps justice. Am sure if a punter was only interested in one code they could do better than me – going through the whole year following exclusively one or the other.

Young Rascal failed to settle but ran disappointingly all the same. Saver Defoe ran an unusual poor race too. Almost got a 20/1 winner, Iconic Choice shortened up to 6/1. Finished fastest in the Fred Darling but just couldn’t get there in time – losing by a short head (only a win bet too). Two each way shots in the Greenham couldn’t handle the winner, but at least they both got the place money…
Then had the 2nd, 3rd and fourth in the Scottish National! LOL
So to today…

April 16, 2019 at 15:17 #1417782Thanks Mtoto, Wanted to be against Western Australia as he looks one without a turn of foot and flattered by the Futurity result. Kick On impressed me in his maiden and was my main bet in the Futurity. Nice to see him back with a nice win. Nell Gwyn is interesting, but having a look at the cards – think I’ll stick.

Not easy to predict with just two year old form to go on, but doesn’t seem much pace in the race. Could disadvantage those held up.Nighty night.

Thought about backing him last night at a bigger price and didn’t = because third string on jockey bookings and disappointed last time. Then market support dragged me in.
With little in the way of good Flat racing, planning on a break (garden needs attention). Be back for either the listed Epsom trial on 24th or Sandown’s Friday meeting 26th.
