Career best effort last time. Led most of the way when 4½ lengths second receiving 2 lbs from Sunnyhillboy in Kim Muir (same terms here). Becauseicouldntsee has a bit to make up on winner, but he’s well handicapped himself and also proven at as far as 4m. Second in 2010 National Hunt Chase. Acts on good and soft ground. Two falls in form figures doesn’t inspire confidence. Only got as far as second fence in last year’s race when wanting to get on with things; but generally jumps better than that. Displayed a good technique and only one slight mistake at Cheltenham. Grand National tends to favour those ridden prominently.

was only beaten 7 lengths and a short head, 3rd in Denman’s Gold Cup. Handicap mark reflects he’s not so good nowadays. Best effort for some time upped to 3m4f (Heavy) latest start. Found plenty and only went down by a neck trying to give 21 lbs (less Harry Derham’s claim) to Giles Cross. Now 2 lbs better off with that rival and officially 5 lbs well-in. Very genuine in a finish but has sulked if unable to get a prominent position. Usually jumps well despite his size. Equally effective on good or heavy ground. Still longer distance could bring Neptune Collonges closer to his best. Couldn’t resist 35/1.

Anyone known a bookmaker offer that price before?

In response to your question, never seen b4 for horse racing but is becoming a common price in the golf markets especially when Bookies shorten one up from 40/1

Good luck with your GN choices. Just added Neptune to my portfolio of Chicago Gray, Cappa Bleu and small bet, for sentiments sake on Vic Venturi. Will also have abet on the day on State of Play to come in top 10 (Market normally only available from night before) probably around the 5/2 to 3/1 mark

Which bookies is that with? I’ve only seen 35s on the golf…..I like NC, bit concerned about his jumping sometimes though…

It’s with Stan James Rich. They’re advirtising "enhanced win only odds". But when they’re top price at 33/1 in the normal market, with most bookies going 28/1 or even 25’s… Suspect they don’t want to go out on a limb by offering 40’s.
