Are you still on the worst run ever? When do you kick start the flat season?

Am over that now Jimmy, things are going much better now. Must admit I lost my enthusiasm for a while and think that affected my betting. Now it’s back and raring to go! :good:

However, probably won’t start the flat until the Greenham meeting at Newbury.

Hi GT – I remember that sometime last year you said that you would be posting your tips more often especially during midweek. Is this something you have put on hold for some reason or purely time constraints. I am sure that your followers would love more of your selections.

In the past you also stated that you left your paid employment and now earn your income purely as a gambler. I wonder if you could tell us a bit more about how it’s gone so far from a personal and financial point of view. For instance I am sure it’s not as glamorous as people think and the discipline required must be a massive factor. Do you gamble on most days? Do you use trading as part of your strategy? Apologies for being so nosy but it’s such an interesting subject and one many of us aspire to !!!

Would you mind posting a link to your Flat racing thread as I can’t find it since site changes. Many thanks.

    Hi Mtoto,
I’ve brought the Gingers Winners thread to the front page of DLAPS.
Will get back to you when I’ve got more time on the other issues you raise. :good:

Here’s one for the 2016 Cheltenham Festival:

    Champion Hurdle
    28 points each way @ 12/1 (L) Peace And Co* (min 8/1)

Thanks for that. Also I wondered if you have changed your opinion of Don Poli’s chances of winning next years Gold Cup given the impressive performance of Vautour. You stated minimum price of 9/2 – bookies best price is now 6/1. Do you still think that is worth taking?

Good point Mtoto, Vautour put up a better performance than Don Poli did, but I doubt if the former will stay 3m2f110yrds; especially if Coneygree is in the line up. If Vautour is to make a Gold Cup horse he’d need to become less exhuberant and less of an out-and-out front-runner; which may lessen his strengths (enthusiastic, fast and accurate jumping). For me, although in some ways bred to stay (sire Robin Des Champs is normally a stamina influence) the JLT performance was about speed. If anything happened to Un De Sceaux can see him going back in trip. Can see him going for and winning the King George – and if so it’ll be difficult not to target the Gold Cup. Might depend also on what Rich Richi’s other horses do, will he want Vautour to take on Djakadam? Will Champagne Fever go for the Queen Mother taking on Un De Sceaux? Or will CF prove to be the Richi/Mullins Ryanair horse?

So it does make a difference to the price I’d take about Don Poli, so too does Coneygree’s impressive display and 6 year old Djakadam’s improved performance (showing potential for 2016). 6/1 is on the border-line, I’d replace the “minimum price 9/2” with “6/1”. And now Don Poli has come down to 6/1 makes a difference to the stake, still just about “value” but no longer the absolutely outstanding value bet. So replace the “86 points @ 10/1” with “33 points @ 6/1”. I’ve got a small bet on Coneygree too @ 10/1. Couldn’t put it up on here because I put the price in betfair and was taken and shortened. I wouldn’t take the now top price 8’s.

Mullins stable might have looked as though they dominated this year’s Cheltenham; but did not win 4 of the 5 established Championship races; Stayers Hurdle, Champion Chase, Ryanair or Gold Cup. Expect a Mullins Monopoly in those races next year!
