I don’t often use capitals,
Eddie
, but
THAT SHOULD BE REQUIRED VIEWING FOR ANYONE ON THIS FORUM WHO STILL THINKS THE WHIP IS A WELFARE OR "CULTURE" ISSUE. A SUPERB INTERVIEW WHICH EXPLODES ALL THE MYTHS AND PUTS US RIGHT FROM A GREAT EXPERT IN THE FIELD
Thank you very much for drawing my attention to this.
October 30, 2011 at 21:04 #375088I only remember one thing about Tory Party conferences and that was when a young delegate said it was ‘stage managed from start to finish’.
Had anyone ever heard of this bloke? Who is he paid by?
I assume this was the interview played several times already on ATR. Nice to see they are now flooding the internet with pro-whip propaganda to compliment the programming. Great work.
Assuming it hasn’t been edited the best bit is where Gina makes the mistake of asking him about hands and heels racing to which he just ignores the question and comes out with a load of irrelevant waffle.
Only the most gullible would be taken in by this.
It says everything that the only unbiased discussion of the whip on ATR came on The Works which for those who don’t know is an American programme. Even in America the anti-whip stance sounded more convincing.

The thing is Pinza,
People find it hard to seperate the beauty from the hard graft, there is no doubt that horses are one of the most beautiful animals in the the world which is why people fall in love with them.
But they have to break that emotional barrier and understand like us, horses have a job to do just like hundreds of years ago horses were bred as a means of transport and these throughbreds are bred to race which encorporates any means or form to encourage them to maximise their potential for both the horse and his stakeholders.
October 30, 2011 at 21:42 #375093Absolute rubbish and outdated claptrap Cheltenham. "Any means" – why not try electric shocks !
What a concerning and disturbing viewpoint.October 30, 2011 at 21:58 #375095

After what happend at Newbury I find your use of words disturbing in itself, lets not take words out of context or we’ll be here all night.
Thank you

I expect you could say the same about the bloke who devised the new whip rules, what are his qualifications and expertise on the subject?
And not much expertise judging from the fact that he considered it perfectly acceptable for 30 jockeys in a Wokingham or Stewards Cup to be looking around for the furlong pole while riding a finish and counting.
How can you ever have confidence in someone to lead the sport if they thought that?October 30, 2011 at 23:38 #375110Cheltenham
It is you my friend who needs to take a long hard look at your comments and views"any means or form"
Dear me, what is this issue encouraging.
Something medieaval seems to be resurfacing

Depends how you interpret this, I’ve basically gave you a blank canvas (the assumption) – picture an empty room, now the way room is painted (interpretation) says more about the interpreters personality (You) than the provider of the room (me).
I am comfortable in my own consciousness and morales that what I said was with good intentions but if you’d like me to edit the post then I will do later in the week but given my impressions on you as an individual I gather it would be a pointless exercise.
February 20, 2012 at 07:47 #21047Following recent fiascos involving amongst others AP McCoy, Nicky Mackay & Richard Johnson regarding the farcical whip rules, both Dave Yates on Saturday and Jim McGrath today have intimated that the BHA’s reluctance to change the rules is down to certain individuals at BHA headquarters, whose "heads would have to roll" if this happened according to Yates.
McGrath says "Let’s be honest, the BHA has backed itself into a corner. The remedy is easy – ditch the new rules now. Sadly spin and the potential ramifications, let alone loss of face, mean in reality the agonising is likely to continue".
I’ve heard others make similar comments but if this is true is it acceptable?
We are used to this sort of behaviour in politics but why should we have to put up with it in horse racing?
Are Jamie Stier & Paul Roy bigger than the sport?February 20, 2012 at 16:36 #392633Following recent fiascos involving amongst others AP McCoy, Nicky Mackay & Richard Johnson regarding the farcical whip rules
Clearly it is a matter of opinion whether you consider these to be a ‘fiasco’ or ‘farcical’. They might be to people like Yates and McGrath who have their own agenda – you could just as easily have asked ‘are the views of McGrath and Yates bigger than the sport’? For me these few bans certainly haven’t overshadowed some high quality racing despite certain presenters doing their level best to give that impression.
February 20, 2012 at 16:46 #392634Dont see why heads would have to roll on this issue alone, the sport has hardly fallen into ruin since last October.
Just fix the stupid rule.

You boys took one hell of a beating <!– s:P –>
<!– s:P –> but don’t worry about it, there are plenty of racing journalists with their tails between their legs as well, Millington, Thomas, Lee, Smurthwaite, Scott & Co.Now the BHA have admitted they got it wrong (Well done to Paul Bittar for that but no thanks to Jamie Stier, please clear your desk as soon as possible Mr Stier) is it time cormack15 did the same and cordially invited Pinza back to the fold? After all he was right all along wasn’t he cormack? <!– s:lol: –>
<!– s:lol: –>February 22, 2012 at 07:45 #392946Pinza’s banning was nothing to do with his views on the whip.
And I think the BHA got it wrong yesterday Eddie. I don’t think we’ve heard the last of the whip issue unfortunately.
February 22, 2012 at 08:36 #392949Eddie . Corm does not do" mea culpa ", which is a shame , still we must not shout that from the rooftops ….it would be a nice touch to have Pinza back though

I suspect we wont have more arrogance from Pompette for a good while

He is probably quite happy listening to himself argue with his echo.

Humility in victory…

volte-face
as no more than the latest chapter of a work in progress
Of course the BHA got it a-over-t as they wrote and published Chapter 2 entitled
A Trial of Whip Count and Mandatory Bans
before an eager public had seen and assimilated Chapter 1, finally released yesterday and entitled
A Trial of Whip Count and Discretionary Bans
. The former should have followed the latter if the latter proved unworkable, which it yet might –
