A most vigorous lack of endeavour shown there. That sort of thing is against the rules unlike anything Mr Prescott does.
May 25, 2011 at 11:05 #357137There was an enquiry:
The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of LOCAL DIKTATOR, ridden by Cathy Gannon, and trained by Ronald Harris, which finished seventh beaten 9½ lengths. They interviewed the rider. She stated that her instructions were that if the colt started to hang she was to let him go to the rail. She added that LOCAL DIKTATOR began to hang left after two furlongs; she hoped that having reached the rail he would stop hanging but he did not, making it impossible for her to ride him out. She further stated that her progress down the rail was impeded in the final furlong by GREEN WARRIOR in front of her and thereafter she was unable to ride the colt to the line. Having viewed the video recording of the race, the Stewards noted this explanation.

May 25, 2011 at 11:50 #357148Thanks, AP. I’m glad the stewards looked at the run. I’m not a jockey but I saw no effort from Gannon to take the horse off the rail if she was that concerned about it, nor does the horses head carriage, legs or jockey position in the saddle indicate that he is hanging badly against the rail. If anything he looks a horse who likes a rail to run against and therefore would be advantaged by it.
Maybe the horses current handicap mark tells a truer story. I’ll be keeping an eye on him.

No argument with your view of that ride, but overall to me he looks like a horse of minimal talent and even less application, especially on turf.
He might be of interest back on the Southwell beach, but a career record of 1/21 for a 3-y-old before the end of May usually points only one way.

November 16, 2011 at 19:02 #378165Am I Blue, connections cleared today. A few more being hauled in…
November 16, 2011 at 19:50 #3781711.The fact that the horse was heavily backed on the day of racing
All major betting operators and exchanges were contacted, with none reporting any suspicious betting patterns or lodging any complaints against the betting activity
Well I’m glad that’s cleared that up.
2. The fact that booked jockey Dean Coleman was replaced by Richard Johnson on the day of racing, with seemingly inconsistent reasons for unavailability
It was found that the reasons offered by jockey Dean Coleman to the BHA for his unavailability to take the ride were all accurate and viable reasons
I don’t know the reasons he gave to the BHA, but the ones whirling around on the day were all indeed viable excuses. Sadly, they were also mutually exclusive and somewhat contradicted by his reported appearance paddockside before the race.
November 17, 2011 at 01:46 #378199On the "accurate and viable reasons" front, if the reasons are considered accurate, is the word viable necessary?
November 17, 2011 at 04:44 #378202He might have given as a reason that he had been told not to ride. That might have been accurate, but it would not have been viable.
