I don`t think they were being disparaging to David, Pru. Tim Vaughan was merely pointing out that David, who had about a dozen horses on the demise of his dad,had cut down his string to two or three due to lower prizemoney, and in the case of this one Am I Blue, previously handicapped at 100,Tim felt it impossible to win off this mark. The handicapper wasn`t dropping her, so they got rid of her to Delyth.
Then he started dropping her until she got to a proper mark. Off this mark it would have been obvious to many she was a good bet.
Richard had ridden her before and suggested she ran from the front. Wheres the mystery?
Too much innuendo in my view these days. If the prize money doesn`t improve a lot, more of us will be leaving the game, and when there are no horses to race the punters can enjoy themselves with virtual racing and poker machinesSeptember 3, 2010 at 11:32 #315751

Whatever the case nothing will happen to any of the connections.
Sure look what happend when Findlay broke the rules, and he did break the rules lets not forget, black and white he broke them. The authorities banned him for 6 months and then gave into pressure when the argument of "common sense should prevail" was put to them along with all the baby tantrum Harry Findlay and co tactics, despite the black and white fact that he broke the rules.
What is the point of having rules if people can talk around them?
I doubt very much the authorities want to clear up racing and when they do try to do it to protect punters they are forced to back down.
Only thing that is certain here is that another incident will happen next month and the next and the next and the next.
Horse racing isnt a punters sport unless you are in the circle.
Best to bet on other fair, decent sports where regardless of winning/loosing you are more likely to loose on your own opinion rather than cheating.
Horse racing is what it is, and always will be.
Its a watching brief, allbeit a fantastic watching brief.
September 3, 2010 at 11:32 #315752I don’t think the Racing Post were being disparaging, either. I was just interested that they chose to make something of the guy’s former involvement with the horse.
I have to say that I do not share your opinion that a horse beaten roughly a furlong at big prices off marks of 90 and 95 suddenly becomes, on the face of it, worth punting from 25/1 to 5/1 when it is dropped to 83.

But even with the virtual racing, Roddy, there’s been an element of corruption creeping in over the years.
Little Franky Rudd was stood down for six months recently after being caught with a crayon in his pocket. Apparently he was intending changing his colours on the way down to post.
And I know this for certain, lots of the jockeys are on the take and having luxury nights out in the data base, owned none other than by that guy who spends millions of chips in the casinos, Mr.Micro Soft.
I’m always telling the stewards at Lucksin Downs to "get real" but they just look at me as if I’m mad.

Am I Blue runs in the 5.30 at Newton Abbot tomorrow.

Stating the same thing over and over again does not make it right Joncol.
Why is it not a "punters sport" if punters can make a profit without inside information, purely by studying form and backing value selections. Just because you don’t know the subject well enough, does not mean it’s impossible for other punters.
Decent sports? Like Cricket, Rugby, Snooker, Football, Formula One? They’ve all had betting scandals / cheating scandals.

Dean Colemans daily changing statements about why he couldnt ride tells you all you need to know.
Ginger – you always seem to assume that people who give out about the sport are bad punters… Why is this? Can you not simply accept that some people are annoyed by cheating ruining a sport they love?
Does it really have to be pocket talking when somebody comments about a case which to anyone at this stage looks to be at least on the verge of cheating?
"if punters can make a profit without inside information, purely by studying form" – Ok so what do you say to those who studied the form of Am I Blue and put a pen through it like I presume most people did?
All those people who didnt give the horse a chance from studying the form – they dont know the subject well enough????

Currently odds on though I reckon it will prove to be easy to back at odds against.
This is all set for a lay bet. Fair enough Johnson is still on board and presumably will employ the same front-running tactics. If so, I can’t see the rest of the field letting him poach an easy lead.
Nor can I see the extra two furlongs being to his advantage. The extra weight combined with a couple of potential dark horses in the field and I think the scene is set for an upset on the cards.
You can of course ignore my remarks, at your peril.
September 6, 2010 at 12:34 #316128Joncol, there will be at least two hundred horse races this week.
It will be possible for one hundred and seventy five of those results to be divined by the form book, pedigree analysis, trainer form and trainer patterns with support from the market.
(If that ground at Donny stays good to firm, don’t even bother looking further than the first three in the market and – possibly – the top three in the weights in the handicaps.)
Ten results will be weird to everyone but the hard core professional – i.e Archies Wish: You really had to be on the ball to find that one.
Ten results will be just plain weird – like Wigan versus Tottenham, or Southampton versus Rochdale.
And five will be Joncol Results.
I’ve never said racing is hundred percent clean – you only have to read the literature to know it can never be – but it is nowhere near as corrupt as you paint it. You’re spending all your time on the forum over-amplifying a tiny percentage.

I have no doubt this horse will get beat today, no doubt at all
September 6, 2010 at 12:42 #316131Joncol,
But will that defeat, if it so transpires, be because the horse is not good enough, or because connections aren’t interested in winning?

Only connections know the answer to that.
In my mind thise horse will 100% get beat today. Just my opinion.
September 6, 2010 at 13:23 #316139Well I’m a layer, only because the ground is totally different – no real surprise if she’s a non runner. Can’t see her carrying 11st 8lbs over the extra trip after so much rain at Newton Abbot.

September 6, 2010 at 13:46 #316144If it does get beat it adds precisely the square root of sweet f.a. to your conspiracy theory Joncol – you do know that don’t you?
September 6, 2010 at 14:20 #316146Is there any speculation that Tim V might still have have had an input after the horse was sold?

Joncol,
Everything you say here makes out it is impossible for any punter to make a profit; so find another sport to bet on."Isn’t a punters sport unless you are in the circle"
"Best to bet on other fair".
"Cheating".
"It’s a watching brief".If you now say it is possible for punters to make a profit without inside information, all of these quotes are nonsense.
Isn’t it clearly a "punters sport" if a punter can make a profit?
Why "find other fair" sports if a punter makes a profit?
There may be a bit of "cheating", but when it’s possible to make a profit by studying form, most racing must be straight, mustn’t it?
Why is it a "watching brief" if form punters can make a profit?Value Is EverythingSeptember 6, 2010 at 14:36 #316153Is there any speculation that Tim V might still have have had an input after the horse was sold?
That can certainly be surmised from the Gaurdian link AP put on here and is for me the most interesting part of the story.
TV is as sharp as they come.
