G1 July Cup – 11th July

On face value it seems a slightly disappointing list of entries. No Sahkee’s Secret, no Fleeting Spirit, no Australians. To a degree, it’s a re-run of the Golden Jubilee, with 12 Ascot runners entered here (including 7 of the first 8 home).

The Golden Jubilee winner Kingsgate Native is the favourite. I still can’t get my head around his Ascot win. I keep thinking that it was some terrible mistake & they called the wrong horse or something. Very unfair to KN, he deserves credit, it was a good run and an OK time. I just couldn’t see it. It is also worth remembering in the Golden Jubilee that the first five home were drawn close to the rail in stalls 3, 1, 4, 2, 5.

Any ideas ?

I think the race is sewn up. Cannot see anything beating Kingsgate Native with those omissions.

While it’s disappointing (but not surprising), that Sakhee’s Secret doesn’t run (for price reasons), the 2008 season will really catch fire when The Raven flies over this 6f.

Can’t wait.
