Paul Struthers agreeing on Nick Luck that the PJA made in error in not publicly acknowledging that Frost ‘was’ bullied.
Struthers displaying the humility here that has been missing in the response of many others.
December 12, 2021 at 09:11 #1572033He’s still trying to wriggle out of answering properly, good on Nick Luck for asking searching questions!
December 12, 2021 at 09:15 #1572034If there was a public pole, including racegoers, it would be a landslide
in favour of Bryony. If the jockeys, and racing commentators don’t realise
this, they are doing an industry, which is already under threat, a disservice.December 12, 2021 at 11:50 #1572060When jockeys are coming out saying it’s not Rancid in the weighing room, turning a blind eye to bullying tells me jockeys will continue to police themselves.
How many more complaints are still to be investigated by the so-called powers at the BHA and PJA, they should all resign.
The racing post is too busy pushing their top tipsters rather than printing real news, WOKE.December 12, 2021 at 11:52 #1572063I’m coming round to really despising Fitzgerald
I think it would be best for the sport if nothing was heard of him again frankly
December 12, 2021 at 12:08 #1572068Has “Senior Jockey” Tom Scu come out of his rat hole to say anything yet?

December 12, 2021 at 12:44 #1572077Excellent article by david Walsh in the Sunday times today which also highlighted McCoy’s nasty snipping after frodons Kgv win and contrasting wit ruby who’s just about the only ex or current jockey to come out of this fairly well
I agree with the poster who highlighted that McCoy is not a nice man

December 12, 2021 at 13:04 #1572086Concerning to hear Nick Luck say this morning that Dunne’s brother David has been posting his side of the story on social media, Nick Luck wouldn’t repeat any of it as said it was legally dodgy, but sounds like they are going to carry on trying to make things uncomfortable for Bryony.
Very distasteful, but then also saw the brother had his licence suspended for 4 months in 2020 after steroids found in a horse he trained and had a couple of IHRB investigations this year into handicap gambles
December 12, 2021 at 13:29 #1572088Interesting that Struthers (PJA) acknowledges that the ‘felt bullied’ part was the wrong wording but further in the piece he goes on to show that he still doesn’t get it by shifting the blame by stating:
I’m sure that Bryony feels we haven’t supported her and I acknowledge that.
Wrong again, you (PJA) clearly didn’t support her which is what led her to escalating the issue past the PJA, which correct me if I am wrong, its whole purpose first and foremost is to be there to support its members in every aspect….the one thing you shouldn’t have forgotten how to do! It kind of makes a mockery of this comment:
“Bryony is a very valued member of the PJA”.
I bet this whole incident has made her feel very valued indeed, well as long as she is not kicking up a fuss over some ho-hum nothing to see here incidents of everyday ‘weighing room banter’ or as everyone else in the outside world would say ‘bullying’. I also think a lot of the people coming out and bemoaning the unfair ‘rancid’ comment might want to actually look at the definition of the word in the dictionary, the follow of which are a couple of examples:
distinctly unpleasant or distasteful : offensive (Merriam-Webster Dictionary)
offensive or nasty; disagreeable. (Dictionary.com)Maybe describing the whole weighing room as rancid was incorrect (debateable but we are talking about lawyer speak) but using the word to describe this whole particular serues of incidents is bang on point.
Its just a shame the vociferous responses by jockeys to that word being used wasn’t replicated in any way shape or form into support for Bryony, if they can seemingly en masse hang one of their own out to dry in this manner just for simply defending herself from abuse then Bryony (as difficult as it will be) might just be better off not being a part of it.
December 12, 2021 at 15:17 #1572104TTC well said senior jockeys and retired jockeys sticking together. ITV take a look at your ex jockeys working for you and get rid. Bryony doesn’t speak to ITV. You need to make them all pay.
December 12, 2021 at 16:07 #1572110All upset over ‘rancid’ comments, bless them; but not upset at the behaviour of one of their own against another……
Honestly, get real….If they’re not all bad, why didn’t any of them do something then? It’s a simple question…..
December 12, 2021 at 16:09 #1572112Maybe the PJA should change the title to UJA (Unprofessional)JA
December 12, 2021 at 16:25 #1572114Could it be the ones ‘accepting and allowing’ this before their very eyes in the dressing room are a little intimidated themselves?
Yes there’s banter, but there’s a line and appears it was well and truly crossed on this occasion. They should be ‘looking after their own’, but very sad she had no one on her side because they themselves were scared of choosing sides and their silence meant they sided with the aggressor.
This should have been ALL the dressing room’s problem. No one stood up though!
December 12, 2021 at 16:58 #1572120“If they’re not all bad, why didn’t any of them do something then?”
Or even speak up in support of the victim now, after Dunne’s confession? With every statement, the “rancid” tag seems increasingly accurate. Since this verdict, Frost has conducted herself with admirable restraint, just getting on with her job. Dunne & his supporters seem intent on keeping it in the public eye. Nobody benefits from this.

Suppose that’s the whole point of why the jockeys don’t like HOW the word was used, LD. Jockeys don’t have a problem with the behaviour experienced by Bryony being called “rancid”. It’s the whole weighing room being called “rancid” they don’t like. tbh Can’t blame them really, the two are totally different things.
However, to concentrate on one word instead of expressing sympathy with Bryony is what I believe sticks in the throat for most of us. That said, think it is important to remember that just because a particular jockey expresses anger at the weighing room being called rancid – doesn’t necessarily mean he /she is feeling no sympathy for Frost.
We don’t know what’s happening in private.
Value Is EverythingDecember 12, 2021 at 18:07 #1572128True Ginge we don’t know what is going on behind the scenes specifically but from what has been inferred and some have said it isn’t a big leap to think that the number of people that have spoken to her with words of support within the weighing room is likely to be on the low side.
I get the feeling it could be a classic case of a noticeable change in dynamics/atmosphere between the jockeys/valets before and after she enters the room – I really hope that this ordeal and continued frosty (excuse the pun) reception doesn’t eventually knock the stuffing out of her to the extent that going forward she becomes more introverted and less approachable to the general public.
Racing really does need personalities like her to promote the sport to the wider audience and it would be a crying shame that the members within the sport itself are in some way responsible for one of their greatest assets not being her natural self.
This issue has starkly shown a light into a rather private club and has highlighted the case that a lot of people need to do a lot of soul searching over their own actions or lack thereof.
Hopefully a real watershed moment but………
