HMS Velasquez will win the Fred Winter for Joseph next year
June 2, 2024 at 16:22 #1696771I was thinking he might be a pertemps horse in time
June 2, 2024 at 18:11 #1696786He was in the stalls an inordinately long time after being put in first. Given plenty of daylight during race too. Still looks a little ponyish. Where would you send him to next where he can win and gain some confidence (joking aside)
June 2, 2024 at 18:25 #1696790He has entries in the 12f King Edward VII Stakes Royal Ascot
Irish Derby and Eclipse
The first race would be the likeliest winnable race unless Aidan employs him as a pacemaker in the other twoBlackbeard to conquer the World
June 2, 2024 at 18:29 #1696794Going by todays effort 12f may be a bit ambitious. So might be the Eclipse. Is there something else over 8 or 10 he could be supplemented for?
June 2, 2024 at 19:36 #1696803Only 10f race coming up that I can think of is Hampton Court at Royal Ascot Group 3
Nothing in France of noteBlackbeard to conquer the World
June 2, 2024 at 19:44 #1696804Would be great to see him in Ascot even at Group 3
June 2, 2024 at 23:46 #1696819The way Aventure picked up in her race don’t think it was too bad ground , not sure what she beat but fav for French Oaks hasn’t done much better . She will give a few a bit to think about this season , she was impressive .
Never liked the look of Diego V , but surely way to good for pacemaker duties as mentioned above , surely not .June 3, 2024 at 01:08 #1696820He’s one defeat away from pace making duties or being sold abroad I’d say
June 3, 2024 at 04:14 #1696822DV 2.6 million yearling , I’d guess he be worth at least million to HK for next year’s Derby , or Australia . Broadhurst won HK Derby few months back from running in handicaps in Ireland , Cleveland goes well in Australia from handicaps for Coolmore .If HK don’t have him Lloyd Williams or Maher stable will have him in OZ for big money .Decent cut your loses for Coolmore .
June 3, 2024 at 07:35 #1696824Ghostwriter feedback…
“Ghostwriter had a great trip round and I’m really happy with how he travelled through the race,” the trainer said. “He probably just didn’t find that change of gear that he has on quicker ground. I’m really pleased he’s put up a positive performance and he’s still a nice horse in the making.”
June 3, 2024 at 09:18 #1696830Looking at City of Troy his full brother went from handicaps to 5 th in HK Derby this year , DV on way higher level than him .
Seems to handle bit of ground variation too.June 3, 2024 at 09:39 #1696832I’m not accepting your offer Helcat
DV didn’t seem to like the ground in the last few furlongs at all.
Sectionals I assume would show if there was a going difference between the home straight and the rest of the course.June 3, 2024 at 09:48 #1696833Duke of Marmalade was used as a bit of a pacemaker if I remember rightly before coming to prime in his 4 y/o campaign
Blackbeard to conquer the World
June 3, 2024 at 09:53 #1696834He did look less imposing than some of the others too so maybe 12f can’t be ruled out as an option.
June 3, 2024 at 10:29 #1696840Max Dynamite also finished 8th in a French Derby and had a few spins round Cheltenham Festival so maybe that could be DV go after all .
