To save anyone who might be interested having to trawl through my waffle on the thread “Les Chevaux de Deux Ans” which is in the Systems, Notebook and Research section I’ll put any bets I’m having on previously noted horses on this thread and keep a profit and loss account as the season progresses.
The first selection is today: 10.20 Tarbes: Detesnouvelles £25 win @ 4/1
April 15, 2021 at 09:19 #1536507A good start to this thread with Detesnouvelles getting on top close home despite still looking green.
Running totals so far:
Stakes £25
Returns £125
Prof/Loss +£100Today’s selection is 2.52 Lyon Parilly: Best Sixteen £48 win @ 5/4 (not much of a price but at least this suggests that neither of the Fréderic Rossi newcomers is fancied)
April 26, 2021 at 21:21 #1538072Best Sixteen could do no better than second at Lyon so the updated running totals are as follows:
Selections 2
Winners 1
Losers 1
Stakes £73
Returns £125
Prof/Loss +£52Two bets tomorrow:
10.50 Marseille-Borely Secret Feeling £30 win @ 3/1
1.50 Bordeaux-Le-Bouscat Feelin Lucky £25 win @ 4/1April 27, 2021 at 21:11 #1538248Out of luck today with both selections finishing second, Secret Feeling just being beaten on the nod. C’est la vie.
Current running totals:
Selections 4
Winners 1
Stakes £128
Returns £125
Prof/Loss -£3May 2, 2021 at 22:17 #1539542Early start on Monday where Best Sixteen is out again in the 10.20 at Nantes. The step up to 1100m should suit and the obvious form danger Joli Coup didn’t look totally straight-forward on debut.
10.20 Nantes Best Sixteen £40 win @ 2/1
May 3, 2021 at 18:38 #1539651Back on track today with Best Sixteen quickening up nicely to come from an unpromising position to lead close home.
Running Totals:
Selections : 5
Winners : 2
Stakes £168
Returns £245
Prof/Loss +£77May 6, 2021 at 21:15 #1539883Another early start tomorrow, a good opportunity for Glenall to build on her promising debut. A couple of the opposition have already been beaten in claimers whilst Honneur’s Lodestar hasn’t looked to have the pace to win at this trip so newcomer Yankee Dream may be the biggest danger.
11.05 Chantilly Glenall £40 win @ 15/8
Update: Glenall narrowly beaten into second. I was thinking for most of the race that her experience was going to count as she raced alongside newcomer Yankee Dream but in the last 200m it was the latter who knuckled down the better although her rider did pick up a 75 euro fine for whip action. C’est la vie!
Running totals:
Selections 6
Winners 2
Losers 4
Stakes 208
Returns 245
Prof/Loss +37May 14, 2021 at 07:47 #1540748I’m surprised to see him drop into a claimer after his maiden win last time but this looks like another good opportunity for Best Sixteen
2.05 Saint-Cloud Best Sixteen £50 win @ 11/10
Update: Got the job done well enough and connections went to 41000 Euros to keep him.
Running Totals:
Selections 7
Winners 3
Stakes 258
Returns 350
Prof/Loss +92May 28, 2021 at 21:43 #1542493Another early start tomorrow when Godolphin’s Sashiko bids to prove his debut running all wrong in the 9.50 at Chateaubriant
No prices at present (Friday 10.00 pm) will update as and when they become available.
Prices now available (8.40 am Saturday)
9.50 Chateaubriant Sashiko £20 win @ 11/2
May 29, 2021 at 21:01 #1542700A disappointing effort from Sashiko, never looking like winning. One more chance for him I think.
Running totals
Selections 8
Winners 3
Stakes 278
Returns 350
Prof/Loss +72May 31, 2021 at 09:23 #1542834Detesnouvelles was a late non-runner in a similar race to this at Angers on Friday, connections presumably thinking she has a better chance here and I agree with that assessment.
She has improved on all three runs and faced a stiff task last time out against the potentially smart Miss Cleopatra.
The step up to 1200m will certainly help and Ioritz Mendizabal keeps the ride.
1.25 Marseille-Borelly Detesnouvelles £25 win @ 4/1
June 6, 2021 at 21:16 #1544180A below par run from Detesnouvelles, possibly she didn’t like the faster ground, being inclined to hang at times.
Selections 9
Winners 3
Stakes 303
Returns 350
Prof/Loss +47Hopefully we can regain the winning thread tomorrow (Monday). Marrante ran well on her debut and the winner has won again since. That horse, Blushing, is a stablemate of debutant Everqueen but her current price of 11/2 suggests she may not be in that animal’s class, at least not first time out.
10.50 Nantes Marrante £40 win @ 6/4
June 7, 2021 at 21:08 #1544277A very poor effort from Marrante today. On debut she made the running but couldn’t get to the front here. Third home Dream Bahama was beaten just over a length yet previously had been 6 lengths behind Marrante, still if things always worked out as expected there’d be mothing to bet on.
Selections 10
Winners 3
Stakes 343
Returns 350
Prof/Loss +7A busy day tomorrow with three Jean-Claude Rouget trained runners to be interested in at St Cloud.
1.25 St Cloud Sluzewiec 40 win @ 5/2
2.00 St Cloud Blue Heart 20 win @ 5/1
2.35 St Cloud Keshana 50 win @ 11/10June 8, 2021 at 17:31 #1544442Not the afternoon I was hoping for with all three selections beaten and the running total for the year slipping into the red. I’m not sure what to make of these performances. I thought both the maidens had got themselves nicely positioned to mount a (winning) challenge but neither picked up in the manner that I (and Christian Demuro) expected almost as if they needed the run still. Puzzling. Keshana meanwhile looked a different horse from the one that skated up on debut. Admittedly the opposition was stronger here but she just looked laboured when asked to quicken.
Selections 13
Winners 3
Stakes 453
Returns 350
Prof/Loss -103June 9, 2021 at 12:38 #1544543Salut A Toi.
I appreciate the hard work you are putting into this thread.
Very good stuff.June 9, 2021 at 21:52 #1544615Thanks Sam, just a shame the results are going quite as I would like, still it’s a long season and we’ve only just got going.
Tomorrow, Gordon Break has an excellent chance in the 1000m maiden. Travelling well throughout on his debut at Chantilly, he had no answer as Mountain Madness swept by in the final 200m but managed to keep the rest of the field at bay. Maxime Guyon keeps the ride and the drop back in trip seems to make sense given the speed he showed first time up.
7.45 Parislongchamp Gordon Break £40 win @ 5/2
June 13, 2021 at 20:10 #1545271Well that was a desperate run from Gordon Break – looked like it had never set foot on a racecourse before despite the promising debut run, and so the losing run continues.
Another short price selection tomorrow I’m afraid, the continued small fields aren’t helping in this regard but it is what it is:
11.20 Salon Provence La Conmbattante £48 win @ 11/8
On last time out running she has a bit to find with Purplepay but with the anticipated improvement I hope she can reverse that form, especially dropping back slightly in trip.Updated running totals:
Selections 14
Winners 3
Stakes 497
Returns 350
