I don’t think Relief Rally wants 7f based on what her brother Koropick achieved, I wasn’t that keen on the race Regal Jubilee won when last seen, Star Music is a danger based mostly on the red hot form of the trainer and I didn’t like the rest apart from FOLGARIA who has switched from Italy. Hard to gauge what she achieved but I thought her last win was in a decent race and may improve now with Marco.
FOLGARIA 5/1
April 19, 2024 at 10:31 #1691017I’m with you Chivers regarding Relief Rally, although her running style says she may get it staying on late (in Lowther) Cant bring myself to back her. Looking at her family also would concern me about her getting the seven. Nothing catches my eye in the race so it will be a watching brief
Good luck with FolagariaApril 19, 2024 at 20:37 #1691074I would be a little worried about Regal Jubilee dropping back to 7F (especially with Newbury drying out) as all her runs last year were over a mile and her final race was on officially heavy ground. Wouldn’t surprise me if they tried to make all the running on her to ensure that it doesn’t turn into a 2-3F burn up.
Relief Rally might find 7F the limit of her stamina although one of her immediate relatives did win over the trip (her dam was actually related to a 8 & 9F winner on the flat who also won a 2m hurdle), so she might be ok but her chance could very well depend on how well she settles early and on what pace they go.
Not sure what to make of Folgaria’s overall Italian form – although her last run was in winning a G2 in which the runner up (beaten just over 2L) subsequently went on to finish 4th at Saint Cloud (beaten just over 4L) behind Greenham favourite Zoum Zoum.
RAce best watched.
April 20, 2024 at 01:02 #1691127Star Music has a bit to find on form. But comes from a stable bang in form and may also get a soft lead. Taken 4/1.
I agree LD – at the price – I want to be against Regal Jubilee. Had the ground been soft she could have got away with coming down in trip, but judging by Friday race times it’s going to be Good today.
Big doubt about Relief Rally staying – they were talking about the L’Abbeye after York and Haggas wasn’t sure she’d stay or train on. Been sold since last year too.
Folgaria has gone for a bit of a walk in the market. I took over 8/1 earlier. Am hoping to lay some back later to make her just a saver. Italian form looks up to this class but Marko Botti hasn’t been in good form lately.
The other one I like at the prices is Elmalka @ 6.2/1. Very well bred (by Kingman out of Group 1 winner Nahrain which makes her a half sister to Benbatl). Won her only start, coming from some way back. Could be anything.
Value Is EverythingApril 20, 2024 at 09:19 #1691138Ja, Botti could do with a winner but a fair few have been running well. My hopeful theory was that they thought this filly was something special so no point lounging around in Italy, get her to the proper classics.
Could be way off with that though. 🐴April 20, 2024 at 10:31 #1691159wrong thread

I backed her on debut as her breeding indicated she’d be very capable of running a big race first time out
She looked beat then showed a serious turn of foot to rattle home and win
Her final furlong was 0.4 seconds faster than anything else
Be interesting to see how she gets on
April 20, 2024 at 11:12 #1691172Varian has though said she will come on for the run like most of his
So no bet
Happy to watch and hope for some eye-catching runs
April 20, 2024 at 11:36 #1691178The Relief Rally conundrum is going to be interesting. Last year Mr. Haggas mentioned a couple of times that she was a ‘pure’ 2 year old and they don’t expect her to train on. Then the owners (Munir/Soude) decided to sell her as they have no breeding operation and the new guy sent her straight back to WH. Now Haggas has said all the right things, ya know, “wintered well” “Strengthened up”. That could be to appease the owner or possibly genuine.
Nothing surprises me in this game, so what will be, will be. Personally, I think she is a terrible price, won’t stay and will either be campaigned over sprint distances or sent straight off to begin life as a broodmare.
April 20, 2024 at 11:55 #1691185That’s interesting FF.
I’ve decided to make Star Music and Folgaria my main bets and laid Emalka (admittedly at a bigger price) back so she’s now just a saver. My Star Music bet is mainly each way.Value Is EverythingApril 20, 2024 at 14:01 #1691240I’d agree with ginger and make Star Music the one to be on

Value Is EverythingApril 20, 2024 at 14:16 #1691248Good stuff, cheers. Little bit of regret I didn’t go in harder.
Thats what she said
April 20, 2024 at 14:19 #1691249April 20, 2024 at 23:04 #1691323Relief Rally very disappointing, particularly as the stable won with a couple of others. She never looked likely at any stage. Her track position was terrible and it wasn’t just a case of not staying as she wouldn’t have won at six furlongs. Well done to those who gave her the swerve, many didn’t as she ended up a well punted favourite.
April 21, 2024 at 10:30 #1691351At this stage I’d say probably a bit of both, not staying and not training on.
I did think Relief Rally was going best 1 out, but not as much as a 5f – 6f sprinter should be over her miler rivals.Value Is Everything - AuthorPosts
