I’d run him in the Derby. Hold him up and if he three parts stays he wins.
I thought Harbinger was impressive in last years King George but Frankel today was just ridiculous can’t wait to see what rating he’s given, how about 250 lol.
Best perfomance I’ve ever seen, simply, that wasn’t a beating that was a demolition.
April 30, 2011 at 14:58 #352863To be fair, it wasn’t a vintage Guineas. I doubt anyone will dispute that. But it was a great thing to watch, like Secretariat v Sham but without Sham in the race lol
Harbinger’s KG win is not comparable though, far superior against superior opposition.April 30, 2011 at 15:00 #352864

Great performance but surely only millionaires would want to back him.
Then Gosden’s horse, which hasn’t been on a track for god knows how long wins at a huge price and you think: my god, racing for change has got its work cut out selling this game to the public. Sublime to the ridiculous.

April 30, 2011 at 15:09 #352866I never thaught I’d see a more impressive Guineas winner than Zafonic but I think I just have after that unbelievable performance from Frankel.

Fair enough. You would expect that Casamento will do better over 10f and Roderic O’Connor will do a few good things as most of Aiden’s horses do. Pathfork will no doubt be in the Irish Derby and stuff. We’ll see how it works out later.
April 30, 2011 at 15:13 #352869I truly thought he was going to win by 1 furlong at one point….

Really hope he stays to running at a mile as I would love to see him clash with Canford Cliffs at some point.
Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
April 30, 2011 at 15:16 #352870Completly disagree re ROC….he has no scope….he wont win a Group 1 this year. He looks like a pony.
All the Rags came to the fore in behind Frankel…hard to know what to make of it
April 30, 2011 at 15:30 #352873I don’t usually watch or take much of an interest in the flat BUT Frankel – WOW!!!
April 30, 2011 at 15:32 #352874As I had backed him at 16/1 ante-post (not after-timing see original thread) a short head would have done.
I was getting quite concerned from around two furlongs out that he would get home. For once a sectional time might have been of interest to see how much he was slowing. The winning margin looked more like three and half lengths than the quoted six. Not sure why they felt the need to ride him in that way as you would have expected him to have outspeeded the opposition had he stayed in the pack and he would probably have had an easier race.
Yes, for the first six furlongs he did look a wonder horse but to my eyes he looked pretty much a spent force at the end.

No, I doubt he will, but OB will no doubt find a weak gp3 and a listed race for him somewhere.
April 30, 2011 at 15:36 #352876Frankel rated provisional 142 by Timeform after his Guineas romp.

I thought he was tiring but not according to Queally and Cecil they reckon he just idling.

I’ll leave it for others to say how that is too high
April 30, 2011 at 15:40 #352880^^I just watched Frankel and Makfi’s respective victories side-by-side.
Last years renewal was nearly a second faster, but Frankel appeared to be well ahead at the halfway stage. I know there was a fairly strong crosswind this afternoon, but it would be interesting to compare the official splits, stick readings etc etc
April 30, 2011 at 15:47 #352882Agree 142 looks too high.
TF have rated him on the bare result +2 lengths. Not sure where they get the two lengths from. That gets into the realms of guesswork for me. Maybe marketing based decision and a bit quick for a rating (haven’t even got the full day’s times yet) so they may yet amend that rating (it’s only provisional I think at the minute).
April 30, 2011 at 15:48 #352883Love to see the sectional timing which their was this year at Newmarket
