Did Colin Phillips have any info on Helmet’s progeny Nathan?
He’s off to a flyer this season with the 2 x Mark Johnston 2yo’s zooming up at Kempton yesterday.
Paddy’s have dropped his price from 25/1 to 10/1 at the moment, they were certainly impressive.

Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...March 27, 2016 at 13:30 #1240038Hi Jac
This is what Colin had on HelmetHELMET 25/1 / 79 runners
Spent his early years in Australia, placed on debut as a 2-y-o then won all four of his other juvenile races including two Group 1s. Won a Group 1 over a mile as a 3-y-o then finished his career with Godolphin/ Al Zarooni when well beaten behind Frankel in the Queen Anne. An unknown quantity as far as I am concerned.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
March 28, 2016 at 22:00 #1240200Here is what Richard Hannon had to say about some of the new stallions
As the two year olds slowly step up their work, we take a look into what first season stallions are making an early impression.
CASAMENTO, a son of Shamardal (the same sire as Lope De Vega), who won the Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster, looks to have a lovely bunch of two year olds in the Hannon yard. Richard commented ‘He is in for a very exciting season ahead. His progeny are strong, athletic and very straightforward’. Darley look to have another very exciting stallion prospect on their hands.
A horse trained by Richard who won the Flying Childers at York, SIR PRANCEALOT, who was up and running early on as a two year old, taking the National Stakes at Sandown on only his second start. His two year olds look like they will be following in similar footsteps. ‘His first crop look very precocious and seem to know their jobs.’
DRAGON PULSE, the lightly raced son of Kyllachy, who’s standing at the Irish National Stud, looks another stallion with plenty to look forward to. ‘I couldn’t be happier with his first crop, they have done everything we have asked. They may not get running till middle of the season, but there is plenty to like about them.’
The final stallion we will talk about is BORN TO SEA, a brother to Galileo and Sea The Stars, by Invincible Spirit, who ran second in an Irish Derby. ‘His offspring have stood up really well over the winter. They have done their work with ease and have a lot of class. They look like they will be running towards the second half of the season’
With a solid group of two year olds for the year, things are looking exciting for the 2016 season.

March 28, 2016 at 22:10 #1240201Thanks Nathan..it’s going to be interesting to look back on here and follow how the first season Sires are fairing.
I’m really looking forward to seeing some of these Stallions progeny at the Craven Meeting Newmarket in a few weeks time and you should also see some at the Lockinge meeting at Newbury.
Will try to get some nice photos of them.. Jac

Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...April 5, 2016 at 10:05 #1240920There’s a colt by Frankel out of a mare called Noahs Ark entered for the Craven Breeze Up Sale at Newmarket next week – he’s Lot 72.
The breeze-up will be shown live on RUK starting at 9am on Monday, the sale will be on Tues and Wed. Videos of the breeze will also be on the Tattersalls website by Monday afternoon.
Another one to look out for is Lot 61, by Teofilio, who cost 260,000 euros as a yearling, so quite a substantial sum for a pinhooker to risk.
The sale is mainly dominated by sprint bred types, plenty by Kodiac, Exceed and Excel, Showcasing etc.
April 5, 2016 at 15:36 #1240943Frankel never made it to the track until August of his 2yr old year, therefore it would be dependant on the particular mare adding more precocity to enable them to be more early season 2 yr olds. I don’t see him having as many runners early as some of the others listed.
As previous posters have said, he will likely be producing mainly more classic type offspring that are unlikely to be the typical sharp 2 yr old types to notch up a large number of winners.
April 6, 2016 at 12:56 #1241024The sale is mainly dominated by sprint bred types, plenty by Kodiac, Exceed and Excel, Showcasing etc.
And here I was hoping to see some scratchy backward middle-distance prospects.

Ouch !!! The Frankel colt (Lot 72) was let go at 95,000 gns
April 13, 2016 at 19:32 #1242280Bought In by the vendor, so not sold, I think.
April 13, 2016 at 20:25 #1242285He was subsequently sold privately for 100,000 gns to a John Dance.
April 13, 2016 at 21:09 #1242292Very surprised by that. More heartening was reading Hugo Palmer’s stable tour in the RP today where he said that the Frankel’s are particularly nice.

May 25, 2016 at 15:00 #1248283Does anyone know how many winners the top first season sires usually have?
Racebets still offer prices for this category and I would like to know if there is any hidden value left.
Hope someone knows more than I do. - AuthorPosts
