I don’t think there is any value in France even though they almost certainly won’t lose so I’ve gone for under 1.5 goals at 2/1 on Betfair.
Historically these games produce lots of goals but Switzerland are solid if unspectacular at the back while France may be a bit edgy, particulary as Cisse has gone and the squad seemingly hasn’t bonded. 0-0 or 1-0 to France.
June 13, 2006 at 09:02 #89337Given that France couldn’t beat the Swiss or Israel either home or away in Qualifying, I will be laying France at 1.75 for this.
I’ll also be backing South Korea at 2.06 to beat Togo. This is the Korean’s 6th straight tounament and although flattered somewhat to reach the semis last time, they should be far too strong for a side in turmoil after the departure of their manager at the weekend.

June 13, 2006 at 09:17 #89338Can understand the France scepticism and there’s a bit of wait and see for me, their players are still a lot better tha the Swiss though. Trying to see if Croatia can hold Brazil, but doubt it, so it’s Korea/France/Brazil for me @7/2
June 13, 2006 at 15:43 #89339I think France look solid enough at 1.71, i know france struggled with the swiss in the qualifiers but this is different and the swiss always seem to come unstuck against the big sides at the championships. Frei is a big Danger in attack and his games to goals ratio is quite unreal but i think with France playin Henry upfront alone with 5 in midfield they should prove too strong and am lookin forward to seein Ribery as he carried Marseille himself last year. So i’ll go for 2-0 or 2-1 to france with the swiss knickin a late goal if it finshes 2-1

June 13, 2006 at 21:19 #89340I’m on France and they were fine for me, just a shame their wide players were awful – Ribery? Who? Wiltord, could he be arsed? The over-reaction to their performance bordered on xenophobia  consider Brazil were v.average, England v.average, was all a bit strange. Only worry was that, of all people, Henry didn’t look arsed, maybe he was just hot, he did Senderos thrice and poor old Philippe didn’t quite cotton on to the old "run in behind off the shoulder"!!
Well done FSL with the goals bet, good call – why didn’t I cover my treble with a France draw? Don’t know!
Few nervous moments with Korea david ;)
