Unreal! Thats the only way I can describe that ‘Performance’ from a Professional Jockey today in Sedgefields 2,50pm.You have to see this to believe it.
For whatever reason Grant Cockburn decided to bail out the side door of his mount Flogarose today, the horse had jumped acceptably all the way round and as the commentator says approaching 3 out "Flogarose jumped that really neatly" as the combination sweep into the lead still full of running but then straightening up you can see the jockey ‘fiddling about with something’ and out comes his left leg from the stirrup and he jumps off……..Now had his A*se been on fire I would understand but there was clearly No reason for his departure and a few questions need to be asked here imo.May 13, 2014 at 18:18 #478940Pretty tame looking unseat there, it was hardly bucking bronco stuff with perhaps a tiny jink by the horse.
Perhaps with the surname Cockburn, it was another part of his anatomy that was on fire!
Since the jockey could never have deliberately come off the horse, we have to conclude he is pretty useless. Stats show he’s had nine winners in the past twelve months.
Flogarose? Flogajockey more like!
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Yeah it looked like his left hand went low to (as TAPK said) "fiddle something", he then lifts his left leg up and out of the stirrup and leaps off the horse!
Dirty cheat of a jockey, and if I’ve got it wrong and he’s innocent then he should be banned from riding for being so sh*t.
Absolutely disgrace and if this gets swept under the carpet then the head guys at the BHA should resign for incompetence.

That was what they call the Hokey Cokey ride.
"You put your left hand down, you pull your left leg out, in-out-in-out and shake it all about, you do the hokey cokey, then turn around and jump off like a fairy."

May 13, 2014 at 19:47 #478944It’s not just the all weather races that get decided in the weighing room. The jumps at Sedgefield is where the North East mafia run the weighing room and decide not who wins but who loses, they then lay the balls and cock off which ever one they decide is todays loser, today was Flogarose and the horse loses, simple. If the horse in question wins the jockey who fails to stop said horse faces severe consequences and Mr Cockburn would of lost his 5lb claim in a not so nice way.
Cockburn had no choice jump off or Cockburn.

May 13, 2014 at 19:49 #478945Stewards Report read:
The Stewards held an enquiry into the fall of Grant Cockburn, the rider of FLOGAROSE (FR), on the bend exiting the back straight. They interviewed the rider. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the incident the Stewards noted his explanation that the mare had taken a step left towards the rails causing him to become unbalanced and unseated.
The word ‘noted’ normally suggests the stewards aren’t convinced. Looked wierd from the side, and there wouldn’t be head on shot available at that point.

LOL!
Imagine if you’d backed Flogarose, I’d have thrown up a pool of vomit in anger like that scene in Team America World Police!

May 13, 2014 at 21:10 #478959I cant believe he still has a claim.
I would of said he was a professional ‘jumps’ jockey.
I’ll get my coat….

May 13, 2014 at 21:37 #478961Oh dear, dear oh dear, dear oh deary me.Just spent the last hour analysing the race.I can study a frame by frame advance and crucially zoom in to what this Jockey was doing before, during and after his bail out and its clear as day to me at least he has literally jumped off for No reason other than to ensure defeat.Jockeys excuse of horse taking a false step to the rail just doesn’t wash, the horse clearly takes a false step 3 strides after his ‘dismount’.What is clear under close scrutiny is that the Jockey for whatever reason takes a sneaky peak between his legs a split second before freeing his left leg and clearly propelling himself out the side door had he not done that one could argue his case, very weakly still but to change his body shape prior to ‘unseating’ suggests clearly a pre-meditated move to ensure his dismount as dangerous as it is stupid had at least a hint of safety to it.Without doubt the most blatantly obvious intent to dismount during racing I’ve seen……Well at least since the days of Brad doing it around Southwell in the 80’s.The Stewards will surely have a head on which will clearly clarify the situation.

I believe he’s a cheat and robbing the betting public of money, a tweet is hardly harsh in comparison.
Do you think the ‘fall’ was completely accidental?

I only saw the incident once and thought it looked extremely dubious and something which definitely warrants an investigation. That doesn’t mean I resort to name calling on twitter.

He deserves much worse than name calling on twitter. People in this sport that cheat should be shamed and made a mockery of otherwise it’ll never change.
Then again, maybe it never will.
But that won’t stop me!

By the very nature of Horses being controlled by Humans, skullduggery always has been and always will be rife in Horseracing. The system encourages it,the powers that be know that and turn a blind eye to the majority of horses running to protect their handicap marks. We as judges of horses have to accept these are the rules too and make our assessments accordingly. However when situations like todays occur and thankfully they are few and far between then zero tolerance is the only way forward,we cant accept pathetic explanations like the one given today."The horse took a step left to the rail" What? So what if it did? The horse has jumped hurdles and jinked but numpty draws has stayed on board and yet galloping in a straight line he cant sit tight!
What this guy deserves is simple,if found Innocent his licence revoked for 6 months for failing to be able to ride a horse in a race properly and re-trained.If found guilty of blatantly jumping off then a 2 year ban doubling to 5 years if connections have paid him handsomely to do so.Simple.May 13, 2014 at 22:37 #478976

I’ll go buy some eggs to throw at him as he makes his way to the hearing
