which horse’s ran well, full of promise.
iam working on my suggestions, “what did you see?”
tracker material …future winners! >>>only.D21
June 23, 2024 at 08:35 #1699712King’s Gambit must be of interest next time, possibly over 1m 4f and in receipt of a better ride.
I will probably regret saying him but my cliff horse Orazio deserves a mention. He flew home in the final furlong of the Wokingham after looking booked for last place at half way. He must need 7 furlongs now and holds entries in the Bunbury Cup and the International Handicap back at Ascot. Taken 16/1 for the former.
June 23, 2024 at 08:37 #1699714I wouldn’t give up on River Tiber
he’s every bit as good as Haatem judged on the Irish Guineas
He looked a messed down at the start, sweated up and wasting energy. I didn’t see him going down to post
Could be a temperamental thing so maybe one for a late play. He’s got a big stride so maybe if he pops up in one of those 7f French races on a straight track at a decent price might be worth a playBlackbeard to conquer the World
June 23, 2024 at 09:34 #1699722Indelible in the Sandringham. Won the race on her side.
June 23, 2024 at 12:21 #1699732Mountain Bear know he is exposed but thought he was an eyecatcher in Jersey
June 23, 2024 at 13:13 #1699735and it happens all the time a horse that has loads of targets
to aim for later in the season runs a weak first time out effort.
CONTINUOUS was “looked after” …”will come on for this”.
(Aiden takes the longview).
In the meantime there was a few scalp hungry horses in the field playing hardball. So CONTINUOUS for me will do a lot better.
June 23, 2024 at 13:23 #1699737Also FRESH is well handicaped now, and didn’t get involved, finishing 7th in 3rd gear. Has run well in Group 1 company in the past. Not eyecatching but can notch a win soonish.
June 24, 2024 at 06:15 #1699789jockey CALLUM SHEPHARD …future Champion?
June 24, 2024 at 13:24 #1699819Callum shepherd, oisin Murphy, kyprios,Bedtime story and most of all clerk of the course for showing you can race on firm ground. Hopefully others take heed. You are always in the lap of the gods but summer is meant to be good/Good to firm going.
June 25, 2024 at 23:06 #1699970Inisherin looks a real top notch sprinter. As long as his jockey doesn’t make a habit of going too fast too soon he’s got Champion Sprinter written all over him.
2 year old fillies better than the colts. Bedtime Story and Fairy Godmother are the obvious ones. At this stage the former looks more a Fillies Mile / Guineas horse, whereas the latter might be one for the Cheveley Patk / Commonwealth Cup.
Rosallion looks the one they all have to beat in the Sussex / open Mile contests. However, the way he races leaves him susceptible to not getting a run through or being too far back in a slower run race. Media has exaggerated how far clear his form is of the rest. Charyn put up an improved performance in the Queen Anne. Big Rock and Facteur Cheval went out on their own and both may be better on softer ground. Although BR probably won’t ever get back to last yeaar’s form when trained by Head. Sonny Liston again showed he’s well worth a try in Group 1 company – beaten only a head off a mark of 111 in the Hunt Cup. Taken 75 and 70 about him winning the Sussex!
Augustus Rodin didn’t win the POW by very far, but he might be capable of better against better opposition. White Birch will give him a race, particularly if there’s some give underfoot. I said immediately after the King Ed, Calandagan could develop into a rival for City Of Troy in the “Who’s The Best 3yo Middle Distance Horse Stakes”. Shame he’s a gelding. Hoping the French horse is supplemented for the King George. And as I said before Ascot, if I were the owner of Kings Gambit I’d have supplemented for the Derby. Very unlucky in the Hampton Court – should be competitive in Group 1s at middle distances for a trainer going places.
Illinois and Highbury both ran excellent St Leger trials. Taken 6/1 Illinois.
Trawlerman gave Kyprios a scare, but the Coolmore horse seemed to be only doing enough. Vauban might be more of a threat to that pair at 1m6f to 2m. Obvious non-stayer in the Gold Cup.Value Is EverythingJune 25, 2024 at 23:22 #1699973Ginger,
Inisherin was a rare winner for me, but I’m not sure I am on the same page as you going forwards. What races do you see him winning? I don’t think that was much of a race, and I think he needs a similar stiff 6f to be effective.
June 26, 2024 at 00:10 #1699976One horse for me who stood out in the sprint division. A 3yo gelding by Havana Grey who won The Palace Of Holyrood House Stakes on Friday.
PILGRIM trained by David & Nicola Baron.First noticed him at the Craven Meeting Newmarket where he went of 9/2 fav but was well beaten by course specialist Woodhay Wonder over 6f. He went on to run 3rd at York and then to win at Musselburgh both those races over 5 furlongs.
On Friday evening at Royal Ascot in the Palace of Holyrood he was going well and came through to take up the lead in a field of 28 horses and forge ahead to win in good style. He returned 18/1 and Woodhay Wonder was in 4th.
Definitely more to come from him and he is not ground dependent either. Hoping to see him again at Newmarket perhaps in the July Handicap.. Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...June 26, 2024 at 14:26 #1699998“Ginger,

Take a look at the fractions, Stilvi.
Take the first furlong out (14.24).
11.29, 11.13, 11.27, 11.84, 12.72.
The penultimate furlong well over half a second slower than the fourth furlong and final furlong significantly slower still.
They went too fast early on which greatly favoured those held up (second and third were in the back three early) and disadvantaged those racing prominently. Inisherin was the only one of the first seven home to race prominently. Of the others Kind Of Blue in fourth the only one who raced mid-div. The other five all raced in rear… And yet Inisherin still won by 2 1/4 lengths. I agree the second horse isn’t that good, but in an evenly run race he would not have got within 5 lengths of Inisherin. (The third Jasour might do a bit better than that if settling better). The first home of Inisherin’s rivals that raced near him / prominently was beaten 7 3/4 lengths.Don’t get me wrong, I agree that a “stiff” or at least a truly run 6f suits Inisherin. But to be ideal the race should be evenly run… And if we get that at Newmarket I’d expect him to show his dominance. However, Eaves seems to be making a habit of going off too quickly – which is a concern.
Value Is EverythingJune 27, 2024 at 09:07 #1700045Just a thought Jac one of the horses i have shares in The Coffee Pod beat Pilgrim a length at York last season. Funny old game as someone once said.
