Ferdy Murphy, trainer of the unplaced Hollo Ladies, was fined £580 by the stewards after the clerk of the scales deemed jockey James Reveley to have weighed in 2lb heavy.
Murphy was found guilty of changing the saddle pad and it was his second such offence in the last 12 months.
Never liked him as a trainer especially with being exposed in the past but why is he doing the above? For what reason?
Surely this is cheating and I would have thought he should be banned.December 9, 2012 at 10:25 #422157Don’t know if you’d call it cheating No Idea, it is hardly advantageous (at least in the short term
) to have the horse carrying more weight than it should. But it could certainly be viewed as incompetent. If a trainer repeatedly can’t get horses onto the course with the correct weight on their backs you have to question if he’s fit to hold a licence.

December 10, 2012 at 11:34 #422269If the horse is carrying 2 lbs more than the handicapper believes – then it’ll possibly be dropped 2 lbs more than it
should be
next time out.
