…it’s highway robbery!
STAND AND DELIVER!
Was it me or was there a more than usual amount of pre-arranged boxing-in at Newb today?
Canford Cliffs rather shown up as well.May 14, 2011 at 15:07 #355430Cant for the life of me understand why Moore had him so far off the pace when he always runs well when prominent. You’d wonder was it a ploy to make sure he wouldn’t be taking Canford Cliffs on again. If Hughes doesn’t ride Dick Turpin he deosn’t win.

I don’t know why I bother betting in events like this. I find better value and more fun in Class 4s at Brighton.
May 14, 2011 at 15:35 #355439Annoyed I backed him as well. My last Hannon trained winner was circa 1992 I think.

I think it’s probably a mistake to bet at all at this time of year. Titchy priced favourites or big prices you can’t find on form. Hard work if you ask me but the Flat is generally.
May 14, 2011 at 18:48 #355467Perhaps the race was too soon for Dick Turpin after Sandown. I think I read somewhere that he goes well fresh?
The reason Dick Turpin got boxed-in if you can call it that is because he was out classed in that part of the race, Canford Cliffs cruise past him to get the best position with the minimum of fuss and effort, if Dick had been good enough to hold his spot then Canford would of gone around the houses and still won. Don’t forget to vote for him for Flat horse of the year when TRF awards kick in at the end of the year…….

May 14, 2011 at 22:14 #355487Hannon’s explanation from his website:-
The eagerly-awaited rematch with stablemate Dick Turpin did not materialise, as the alarm bells were ringing for Dick Turpin as early as half-way.
Hannon added:"It was too firm for Dick Turpin. He looked great, but he does want a bit of juice in the ground and he never let himself down in the race, while they did not go very fast and he really wants an end-to-end gallop. Fortunately, Ryan (Moore) looked after him when he saw that he was beaten, so we will see how he is during the week, because John Manley (owner) is keen to still run in the Prix d’Ispahan in France next Sunday if we get a bit of ground."
