He also ran in Baden Baden (albeit disappointing) which is a left handed track..
January 31, 2009 at 17:56 #207338I
thought
Baden Baden was left-handed, but the Racing Post website says it is right-handed, when you hover the mouse over Bad in the horse’s form!
February 1, 2009 at 16:16 #207507what’s the chance of Huntingdon going ahead with racing on Thursday?
February 1, 2009 at 16:29 #207512I don’t watch the TV, listen to the radio, or read newspapers anymore, so I’ve rather lost touch with the goings-on in the rest of the world.
This is taken from the Racing Post website.
A Met Office spokesman warned on Saturday night: "The first snowfall is likely to be on the east side of England on Sunday afternoon before becoming widespread during Sunday night into Monday and could still be around on Tuesday. By Wednesday and Thursday it may turn to rain or sleet in some areas, but not everywhere."
February 3, 2009 at 05:28 #207870This is the weather forecast for Huntingdon, from the BBC website, as of 21:02.
Tuesday’s predominant weather is forecast to be sleet. Max 3C, Min -2C
Wednesday’s predominant weather is forecast to be light snow. Max 2C, Min -1C
Thursday’s predominant weather is forecast to be light snow. Max 2C, Min 0C
I can’t really comment on the weather, as we haven’t had any snow in Dover, although is has been snowing a couple of miles out of town.
February 3, 2009 at 14:34 #207878Thanks Gerald and good morning… I think Huntingdon has a small chance of going ahead, but, it is looking gloomy. Our horse has to start on his travels tomorrow morning, hopefully more will be known by then. And, he has a fair way to come..we haven’t booked any flights yet, and so we’ll probably be left to watch it on the Internet,
February 3, 2009 at 16:26 #207897From my stinking hovel barely 45 minutes’ drive from the course, I’d suggest for "small" chance read "negligible".
The going here in North Hertfordshire is just like that former Paul Beck / Richard Guest two-miler – All Rock Hard.

February 3, 2009 at 22:21 #207967we’ve entered him at Plumpton on Monday, but to be honest, the race looks harder than the one on Thursday..and a lot less prize money at stake.
February 4, 2009 at 02:38 #208030I could make it to Plumpton next Monday. but you have to promise you are a 6’3" redheaded woman with a 38-25-36 body.
February 4, 2009 at 12:10 #208088aha…I’m an elderly lady….

don’t think Plumpton would be on our agenda…
February 4, 2009 at 22:44 #208160HUNTINGDON officials have called an 8.15am inspection on the morning of Thursday’s meeting.
Another wintry forecast is providing clerk of the course Andrew Morris with some consternation.
He said: "The track is good to soft, frozen in places but the forecast is for temperatures to drop to minus-one degrees by midnight and we could have snow, sleet or rain by 3am.
"Although we are not entirely positive by that forecast,
if it was to come as rain, instead of snow, then we would be able to race
."
Only 6 turn up for a £16,000 prize.
Dallimann, do you know that there are 4 courses in Britain beginning with F?
Fakenham, Fontwell, Folkestone and . . . . Plumpton.
I think the original quote was by Fred Winter.
I won’t be able to watch the race tomorrow, as I’ll still be on the train home.
I look forward to reading about it, or watching a replay afterwards.
Gerald
February 5, 2009 at 01:11 #208201well, if racing is off tomorrow, he’s travelling back home and not going to Plumpton…
it’s a hot race tomorrow if it takes place, but, I don’t think he’ll embarass us. He’s thriving and has even strengthened since Kempton.
February 5, 2009 at 01:14 #208202and we have to watch on the internet too, not travelled over, too dodgy…
February 5, 2009 at 12:23 #208258well racing abandoned…
a shame, because at least we’d have known where we stood after this race.February 5, 2009 at 18:23 #208308Shame about the weather..have you got a Plan B?
February 5, 2009 at 19:02 #208317no, we haven’t, that’s the problem. we do have him entered in Plumpton on Monday, but he’s on his way back now. Plumpton just wouldn’t have suited him, so not sad about that, and it remains to be seen if racing takes place there.
I would imagine the trainer will get him entered somewhere as quickly as possible when the weather turns. It will probably be too late for Cheltenham, as I said above we don’t really know where he stands, todays race would have made things so much clearer..
but, I would imagine there are a few in our position due to the havoc the weather’s causing, but they haven’t had to travel all the way from Germany and back.
