It seemed like he fell off the edge of the planet after the Derby but Elm Park got back to winning ways today at Sandown, albeit at odds on in Listed company.

There have been a few who dropped off the radar this year. Still no sign of Middle Park winner Charming Thought or one time Guineas favourite and Free Handicap flop Faydhan, who John Gosden described as “Needing more time” but apparently five months hasn’t been enough to see him race again.

Ooty Hill was another who went off the screen after posting an excellent second to Star Of Seville, who went on to win the French Oaks, on only his second start. Hopefully he will be back. I notice that his trainer Roger Charlton is starting to get amongst the winners again with a 26% strike rate the past 14 days.

Ooty Hill is entered in the Legacy Cup at Newbury on Saturday but that would be a big ask after an absence, with Eagle Top and Intillaq also entered there and sure to be the leaders in any betting.

It could be the Champion Stakes for Elm Park next and he’s generally 16/1.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

    Pleased to see him back.
Can anyone tell me what happened to Kingston Hill? Has he died or been retired?

see below latest update on Kingston Hill.

LAST year’s St Leger hero Kingston Hill is now unlikely to make the track this season, with the four-year-old suffering a fresh setback.

In March trainer Roger Varian revealed Kingston Hill would miss the first half of the season after sustaining a superficial injury to his left fore, with his campaign geared towards the Arc, in which he finished fourth in 2014.

However those plans are now in serious doubt, as Varian said on his website on Monday: “Unfortunately Kingston Hill has suffered a fresh training setback.

“He has sustained a soft tissue injury to his left fore. He will again require a period of rest before he is able to resume training.

“Sadly given the time of year this fresh setback will cast a doubt over whether he will be able to race again this season.”

Instead of retiring him, they should have transferred him from Roger Varian to………….Luca Cumani!

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
